What a busy week for our Hostel students. The girls are all settling in to the term with lots of sports and cultural activities. Monday nights we have started cricket skills thanks to North Otago Cricket. Since we have a shorter prep time the girls get homework done afterschool, so good seeing the girls taking responsibility for their learning. We have had Emily and Belles away all week at Rowing with some amazing results. Other girls are involved in Netball, Touch, Tennis, Swimming, Air Cadets, Bake sales for service groups and School production. Looking forward to seeing the girls competing in athletics on Tuesday.

WGHS Hostel - Waitaki House

Waitaki House provides excellent facilities in a caring, positive and structured environment for girls needing accommodation away from home to complete their secondary education. Boarders come from throughout New Zealand, and the world; providing for a unique experience in boarding and forging lifelong friendships.

We offer seven or five day boarding. Flexi- boarding for day girls is also available. Our strength is in the fact that we have made deliberate decisions to keep our numbers small so that all girls experience a true ‘family’ environment while in our care. The hostel has a supportive and nurturing culture where engagement is encouraged. A plethora of activities take place during the week and at weekends helping each girl to develop and grow. We invite you to come and have a look through our fantastic facilities.

Waitaki House has modern facilities and all the dorms enjoy their own common rooms and kitchenettes, which include microwaves, tea/coffee facilities. The hostel enjoys wireless and computers linked to the school intranet.
