Golden Gully Farming Christmas Trees has been part of the Five Forks landscape in North Otago for more than a century. Greg and Nic Ruddenklau are continuing the family legacy while evolving the business through sheep and Angus cattle farming, agritourism, and new opportunities for future generations.

Alongside farming, the family welcomes visitors through its Little Red School House farmstay and farm tours, while also encouraging entrepreneurship among the next generation. Their story highlights resilience, stewardship, and a commitment to rural New Zealand.

Apparently schoolwork could wait today because Gracie (green shirt) decided she’d much rather be a rousey in the shed for shearing the hoggets! 🐑✂️

Even better, one of the shearers recognised her and remembered coming to our shed 14 years ago when Gracie was just a baby, sitting in her stroller outside the woolshed… with apparently no one else in sight! 😂

This apparently earned our woolshed the nickname “The Lost Child Shed” — because clearly Nic was too busy fluffing around with the pets to notice . 🤦‍♀️😂

Fast forward 14 years and Gracie is still hanging around the same shed… only now she’s big enough to actually earn her keep! 😂🐑

From lost child to rousey — she’s come a long way! ❤️

🐑 A busy and exciting time on the farm!
We recently shorn our ewes and then pregnancy scanned them to find out which ones are carrying a single lamb, twins (or more!), and which ones are empty.
Pregnancy scanning is an important management tool, allowing us to tailor the care each ewe receives. Those carrying multiple lambs need extra feed, so knowing which ewes require the best tucker helps us look after both the ewe and her lambs.
After a kind growing season with plenty of quality pasture, we're thrilled to see our scanning results continue to trend upwards. 🌱
These are the moments we love sharing with our guests, giving them a genuine insight into life on a working New Zealand sheep and beef farm.
