Gumtree Farmstay, Oamaru Your hosts Jennie, Grant & family, look forward to meeting you. We farm beef cattle and sheep on 850 acres near Oamaru.

We farm beef cattle and a small flock of sheep, and from late August to early October we rear calves (and orphaned lambs). Our property is home to heritage breed free ranging chickens & ducks, working dogs, Tansy and Prim our house cats, pet sheep and alpaca and pigs. Enjoy the many attractions that Oamaru has to offer.

So far this season the weather has been absolutely amazing, very few frosts, relatively mild days, not at all like late autumn/early winter should be (except for last night when it blew like crazy and I thought the trees were going to fall on our house 😫).
So our house renovations are almost finished and even if they aren’t the hut has been reopened with guests booked for this Saturday night, so if our bathrooms aren’t finished this week then it’s just too bad for us.
With all this amazing weather it’s time to consider a night or two away to recharge. And if you’re a cyclist we are located within easy cycling distance of Oamaru.
Photo taken on Sunday when hubby and I did a 20km loop from our farm, through the public gardens and down to the harbour and back through Weston, along parts of the Alps2Ocean cycle trail.

Hmm we are a little further ahead but also behind. 😭
They had a difficult time yesterday removing the old vinyl so only the carpet (in our bedroom) got laid. Vinyl was done today however that meant the tilers were later starting and he began the main vanity splash back but then went home early 🤪
All the electrical stuff was completed so that was a bonus.
Now we have a long weekend so I have my fingers crossed that everything will be finished on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Bathroom renovation update at Gumtree Farmstay.
Today the vinyl is getting laid. Unfortunately that almost 40 year old vinyl is playing hard to get and they’ve had to grind most of it off. It would be fair to say that a large portion of those grindings are now floating around my house 😭. The OCD side of me is NOT coping 😂.
The second toilet was removed today so we have no loo for a day (thank goodness for the shepherds hut).
As you can see the bathroom walls have been painted and vanity installed. Everything seems to be taking a long time, possibly another week before it’s all finished. I hope!

Exciting times.
This is the current state of our guest bathroom 😱. So looking forward to this Reno, has been a long time coming.
Our personal ensuite is also being renovated at the same time so we are showering in The Shepherds Rest which is why it’s unavailable this month.

We are renovating parts of our home so The Shepherds Rest is unavailable for most of May. We need a shower and toilet 🤪....
