💧 WATER IS BACK! 💧

We’re very happy to say that water has returned to Ohakune! Pressure is still low, so please continue to conserve water while the system fully recovers.

⚠️ A boil-water notice remains in place. Please boil tap water before drinking, cooking or brushing your teeth. We have plenty of FREE bottled drinking water available for our guests.

Campervans and caravans, please don’t fill your water tanks just yet.

After a challenging few days, it is wonderful to see water flowing from the taps again! 🎉

WATER UPDATE 11th August 2026 12.30pm
Good progress is being made on recharging the Ohakune water network. As this work continues, water will gradually begin flowing from taps.
KEY ADVICE
✅ Boil all water used for drinking, cooking and brushing teeth until further notice. We have FREE water bottles available
✅ Conserve water to help the reservoir refill.
✅ Wash your hands thoroughly if dealing with septic waste.
PREPARING FOR WATER TO RETURN
🔹 The water may initially appear cloudy, but it should not be brown. Keep the outside tap running until any brown colour has cleared.
WHEN WATER STARTS FLOWING
🔹 Run inside taps until the water is completely clear.
🔹 Taps may initially splutter because of trapped air in the pipes. This is normal—let them run until the flow becomes smooth.
🔹 Water may also look milky because of small air bubbles.
WHAT TO EXPECT
🔹 Low water pressure may continue until the reservoir has refilled several times.
🔹 Pressure changes can release trapped air and disturb silt in the network.
🔹 Water should progressively become clearer and pressure more stable as the reservoir completes several filling cycles.
PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE
🔹 A precautionary boil water notice remains in effect until testing confirms the water is safe.

💧 OHAKUNE CONSERVE WATER NOTICE – PLEASE CONSERVE WATER NOW 💧
Sat 8 Aug - 6pm: Ohakune residents and visitors are asked to make every effort to conserve water.

Damage from the recent earthquake caused a major break in the buried raw water pipeline supplying the Water Treatment Plant.

Because the damaged pipe was underground, the break took time to become apparent and was difficult to repair.

Repairs are now complete. However, with large numbers of people in town, the water reservoir has dropped to just 12%.

The treatment plant is struggling to rebuild reservoir levels while meeting current demand, creating a risk that Ohakune could run out of water.

Please reduce all non-essential water use immediately.

🚰 EMERGENCY DRINKING WATER
A water tanker is located outside Council’s Ohakune office on Ayr Street. Please bring your own containers.

Council is also arranging for 5-litre bottles of drinking water to be available shortly from the same location.

Thank you for helping conserve Ohakune’s water supply.

🏆 A very proud moment for Ohakune TOP 10! 💚

We came home from the Holiday Parks New Zealand Conference in Hamilton with plenty to celebrate!

We are absolutely thrilled to have been named the **2026 Park of the Year – Small Park** at the Holiday Parks New Zealand Awards! 🎉

We were also incredibly proud to be a finalist for the **Development Award**. To receive this recognition alongside so many fantastic holiday parks from around New Zealand means a lot to our whole team.

But that wasn’t our only reason to celebrate! 🌟

Our wonderful receptionist, **Fuschia Aiomanu**, was one of just **three people from across New Zealand** selected for the **2026 Newbook Emerging Leader Scholarship**.

At just 22, Fuschia had the opportunity to attend the full conference, learn from industry leaders, make new connections and experience her first HPNZ Conference. We are so proud of her and can’t wait to see where her future in the industry takes her! 💚

A huge thank you to our amazing Ohakune TOP 10 team. Winning Park of the Year is very much a team achievement, and we couldn’t do it without every one of you.

What a fantastic result for our little park here in Ohakune! 🏆💚

And a big congratulations to all the other finalists and award winners on the night – it was wonderful to celebrate so many great people and holiday parks from across New Zealand. 👏

🌟 A Proud Moment for Our Team! 🌟

A huge congratulations to our receptionist Fuschia, who was selected as one of just three recipients nationwide of the 2026 Newbook Emerging Leader Scholarship! 👏🎉

This week, Fuschia is attending her very first Holiday Parks New Zealand Conference & Expo in Hamilton – an exciting opportunity to learn, network, and grow alongside industry leaders.

We're incredibly proud of everything Fuschia has achieved in such a short time. Her enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and commitment to providing outstanding guest experiences make her a very deserving recipient of this scholarship.

A big thank you to Newbook for investing in the future of our industry through the Emerging Leader Scholarship, and to Erin, VP, Growth & Client Experience, for her support of the programme and for helping make this opportunity possible.

Congratulations again, Fuschia! We can't wait to see all the knowledge, ideas, and inspiration you bring back to the team. 💙💚
