" Our Place "
Ocean View Motel, is a small and elegant boutique accommodation wedged between pohutukawa-clad cliffs and the broad, flat expanse of Ohope Beach. Ocean View Motel is a superb, family-friendly holiday haven. A quiet no-exit road separates the apartments from the sand and there is no charge for the bikes, kayaks, boogie boards, surf boards and laundry. The gem is a big apartment-style unit, a kitchen with dishwasher, huge living areas and 3 built-in bunk beds, and a separate queen-size bedroom. From the child-safe deck enjoy the view of the marine volcano, White Island and views from West End beach to the East Cape.
The 3 apartments are all self contained with full kitchen, separate bedrooms, free wifi connection and SKY TV ( 40 plus channels). Two smaller apartments have views to West End Beach from the covered decks.

Ohope Beach has been voted New Zealand's Best Beach three years running and it is easy to see why with it's 15 km stretch from West End to the Ohiwa Harbour Spit.

Kai moana gathering of the delicacy known to locals as tuatua. This shellfish is nest gathered at low tide along the stretches of Ohope Beach. With a kayak you can skim across the harbour waters at low tide for other local delicacies found fresh in the Ohiwa Harbour of p**i, mussles and cockles. Guests can enjoy the kai from the local restaurants Ohope has to offer from the Quay and Hui located in Ohope. Enjoy the beach style cafe- beach friendly eateries just 200 metres from your door step at Ocean View. A new offering for diners is the Harbourside Restaurant, perched on the wharf at Port Ohope with views across the Ohope, Ohiwa harbour.
"Our Lifestyle"
To share is the numerous walks from the beach, to the cool charm of the native bush hikes and the challenging coastal walk to Otarawairere or further into the main town of Whakatane. The walks range from 20 minutes to 3 hours to cater for all levels from beginners to advance. We have available MTB for free that guests can use to travel the streets of Ohope. The beach offers a range of water activities of swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, surfcasting, longlining and paddle boarding.
Visitors are able to book fishing charters or visits to the active volcano of White Island with White Island Tours.
"Our Region"
East bound travellers and guests travelling northwards, Ohope Beach is a launching or resting spot for Opotiki, around the East Cape to Hicks Bay, Tolaga Bay and Gisborne.
The Eastern Bay is rich in Maori and European history with the Wairaka Marae offering an indigenous experience and enjoy the offerings of Opotiki and Whakatane museums to take time to learn of Toi and the unique Mataatua area.
