Wonderful Vlog from Travelling Tiny , FB & YouTube. this February Vlog was about their visit to , Selina our Camp Mother & Food Trucker, makes an appearance with he awesome fruit waffles!

"We’ve just had an unforgettable stay on the Hokianga Harbour, just outside Opononi, and this spot seriously blew us away. With nearly 360-degree views, epic sunrises and sunsets, and plenty of drone-worthy scenery, this campsite felt like winning the lottery.
If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Kane, and you’re travelling with my wife Nicky and our two kids, Hunter and Lila, in a tiny home that I built. We’re exploring New Zealand full-time and making the most of life on the road as a family.

This video also takes us to the incredible , a privately owned 143-hectare park featuring 2.8-million-year-old fluted basalt rock formations. With multiple walking tracks, lookout points, swimming holes, and even a café on site, it’s a must-visit if you’re exploring Northland.

We also check out some massive coastal boulders nearby — some of the largest in New Zealand, reaching up to 6 metres in diameter and best seen at low tide.

If you love tiny house living, off-grid travel, family adventures, and discovering hidden gems around New Zealand, you’re in the right place.
Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and follow along as we continue heading south on our journey." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSQeGFcPLu8 Give them a follow, fantasitic photography, drone footage around the whole of NZ - Awesome!!

Fantastic Blog Review of Wairere Boulders by our international visitors Glimpse of Freedom Tobi and Anna : "Would you like to discover deep, ancient vegetation on the North Island of New Zealand? Then you shouldn't miss a trip to the Wairere Boulders.
The Wairere Boulders are a fascinating natural phenomenon in New Zealand that you absolutely must experience. Imagine wandering through a landscape that looks like a giant played with gigantic boulders and scattered them in a dense forest. This sea of rocks, which impresses with its striking rock formations, is located amidst wild vegetation......The campsite at Wairere Boulders offers you a quiet and secluded oasis where you can switch off from everyday life and connect with the surrounding nature. The clear night skies are ideal for star photography – you can observe the Milky Way and impressive star trails as there is no light pollution.....For us, the trip to the Wairere Boulders was like a liberation. We had been ill for a long time before and had been able to do little since our recovery. Although we were already on the Bay of Islands in Russell, but the Wairere Boulders and the Loop Walk we did there were the first real activity after the disease.
It was all the more wonderful for us to see the truly haunting nature at the Wairere Boulders. Of course, the huge stones and rocks were impressive in themselves. But it was also great to be able to wander between them. Passages and bridges have made it possible to walk through the heart of this environment." Update: Photo 2008 Floods
A shout out to all those affected by the floods this week and the outlook for more rain in the coming days. We know how hard it can be to miss out on a summer season, cost wise including the loss of amenities & road access. Our hearts go out to you. We spent the winter months putting in drainage to all low lying public areas so our campers were not affected so badly, other than surface rain water - we were very lucky not to have been under water! Thank you to all our campers that hung on and used the barn when needed - we hope you make it back when the weather is more settled. The photo attached was the flood in our stream in 2008. Some captivating of
by Michael J Breen. Click photos for wide screen & higher resolution (Sharper in depth view - Stunning!). Thank you for letting us share them with our Followers Michael.

Michael J Breen and his wife made the 4 hour drive to Wairere Boulders in the New Year- Here is what he did: "I took along two 120 film cameras: my Horseman VH-R 6x9 field camera and my Widepan Pro II 140 (6x12) swing lens panorama. I only shot 2 rolls in B&W (1 roll of Cinestill 50 colour to be processed).
The Widepan was loaded with ilford FP4 and the Horseman with Rollei RPX25
Millions of years ago, this lava field deposited many, many lava bombs around the landscape. Those basalt boulders; some as big as houses, were eroded by wind and water creating the classic flutes on their sides. Most have slid down from the hills over the millennia but a few are still way up on the ridges (see infrared digital image for reference).
It took us about 3 hours to climb up to Magic Rock and another few hours exploring before we were back. We had walked the lower river trails the previous evening." Click on photos for higher resolution.

Te Patiki Cafe Mangungu Mission Station - a must visit!
A HIDDEN GEM on the HOKIANGA - Fabulous views, a great Cafe and in an area drenched in history is the Mangungu Mission Station. It is situated just down the road from Wairere Boulders (turn right on your way out of the Boulders and follow the road to Mangungu Mission - DON't go right over the bridge to Horeke, follow the road along the Hokianga Harbour. (Only 10 minutes away from !)
"Nestled at the top of the stunning Hokianga Harbour, Te Patiki Cafe offers breathtaking scenic views in a setting rich with history. Located at MANGUNGU MISSION STATION on Motukiore Road, we are the perfect retreat at the end of the Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail Northland. Inspired by the Patiki (Flounder fish)— a symbol of hospitality, prosperity, and abundance—our café embraces warmth and generosity in every cup and plate.
From Tuesday to Sunday, we’ll be open weekly from 10am–3pm. Some days I’m in a bit earlier, and if there are customers here, I’m happy to stay open until everyone’s finished."

The Cafe serves Barista Coffee and home baked delights including their Big Breakfast, homemade pies, The famous Patiki Burger, Paninis, scones, cakes and delicious salads great for a summer day. Their Summer Menu is out shortly and I will publish here. Photo below gives an overview of this 'not be missed' Cafe on the shores of the Hokianga Harbour.
