The Benmore, Aviemore and Waitaki Dams are part of what makes this place so special, and seeing them in action is pretty impressive. With water releases happening, it’s important for everyone on and around the lakes to take extra care. Staying safe isn’t just about us — it’s also about setting a great example for the younger eyes watching from the shore. Enjoy your camping, enjoy your boating, and enjoy the incredible show the dams are putting on!

All three dams up the Waitaki Valley are spilling at the moment. If you are heading that way this weekend (the weather is looking to clear🤞) go have a look - they are very impressive in person!
If you are camping this weekend - be careful of the lake and river levels, stay safe and alert.
