Cyclone Vaianu is on its way, and due to the risks involved, we’ve made the decision to close on Sunday.
The safety of our valued guests is always our top priority, and we wouldn’t feel comfortable sending anyone out on the trail in these conditions.

From midnight Saturday, Cyclone Vaianu is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain across the Pureora region, with warnings likely to escalate.

This is shaping up to be a significant weather event, particularly across the Hauhungaroa Ranges this weekend.

🌲 The Timber Trail travels through remote, old forest — in these conditions, hazards like falling trees, slips, and rapidly changing track conditions are very real.

👉 Our advice: please avoid riding or walking the trail during this period.

It’s about keeping everyone safe — including our riders, walkers, volunteers, and response teams.

If you’re planning a trip:

We are so excited to announce our Kowhai Room is now ready to book. The is the fifth room to our lovely accommodation. The access to the Kowhai Room is from your own private entrance at the rear of the Cottage. In the room, for your convenience, there is a bar fridge, Coffee Pod Machine (and pods), Kettle, Tea etc. Access to the Cottage for your breakfast items is via the front door of the Cottage, where you enjoy the use of the Kitchen, Dining, Lounge and Front Deck with BBQ...
