Introducing MB117, the latest addition to the kiwi whānau at Pūkaha ❤

MB117 stands for Mount Bruce and is the 117th chick to hatch her as part of our breed for release program. They will receive their official name when we get to know a bit more of their personality!

At this age all a kiwi chick wants to do is snooze the day away, so we will keep you posted when you are able to spot them, either during feeding time or when they move into the Nocturnal House to learn how to kiwi!

At the end of the road is the most northerly of the Eastern access points to the Tararua Ranges. This access point leads to the Ruamahanga Valley with its complex of tracks and huts; and to Herepai and the tops. Some pleasant family campsites lie within 30 mins of the road end but the upper reaches of this valley are steep and rough.
