We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the incredible Minnie Marks back to the Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival as we celebrate our huge 40th anniversary! 🎸🔥

A true powerhouse of the Australian blues and roots scene, Minnie is an award-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who has built a reputation for explosive live performances and incredible musicianship.

Her impressive achievements include being named Musician of the Year at the 2025 Sunshine Coast Music Awards, winning the Bluesfest Busking Competition in 2011, being named Best Guitarist at the Open Arms Festival, and taking home the People’s Choice Award at both Blues at Bridgetown and the Nannup Music Festival.

Known for her powerful vocals, incredible guitar work and unique one-woman-band performance style, Minnie has toured and performed around the world, creating a huge wall of sound with her guitar, voice and foot drum kit.

Having Minnie join us from Australia for this very special milestone celebration is something we are incredibly excited about. She is a festival favourite, an extraordinary performer and exactly the kind of artist who represents what 40 years of the Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival is all about — outstanding live music, incredible talent and unforgettable performances.

Aue - it looks like Waipuna-ā-rangi may be busy ☔️ in the lead up to Matariki celebrations on Friday, but as we say, 'there's no bad weather, just bad clothing....' 😉With that in mind, rug up, get your wet-gear on and visit us. Our guided tours run daily (rain or shine), our French Coffee House is serving delicious hot soups and other tino reka treats, the shop's got plenty to beat the bad weather boredom AND of course you can still go on our holiday Matariki Start Journey/Quest.
Open daily: Cafe 10am - 3pm * Shop 10am - 3.30pm * Site last guided tour 2.30pm and last site admission 3pm.

✨ Matariki Twilight Ride — Free Whānau Event ✨

Join us at Waitangi Mountain Bike Park on Saturday 11 July, 4pm–7pm for an evening of lights, bikes, hot kai, music, reflection and winter magic.

This is a relaxed, family-friendly community event with a 2km / approx. 30-minute twilight ride, perfect for tamariki, whānau and anyone keen to get outside, light up their bike and celebrate Matariki together.

There will be:

🌟 Decoration station from 4pm
🚲 Family-friendly twilight ride
🍲 Hot kai, soup and hot drinks
🚲 Free bike hire available — first in, first served, limited availability
✨ Reflection and stargazing
🎶 Music and community vibes
🌙 Optional night ride for adults and confident riders only — proper bike lights required
