Some people see old furniture.
We see potential. πŸͺ‘πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ¦‹

At Monarch Manor, restoration isn't simply about making something look new again. It's about preserving what makes it special.

Behind the scenes, Douglas and Owen are the hands responsible for much of the practical craftsmanship, restoration and finishing work that brings Kathy's design vision to life.

Timber is repaired, surfaces are refinished, chairs and couches reupolstered, and pieces that might otherwise be discarded are given another chapter.

Not everything needs replacing.

Sometimes, the most beautiful thing you can do is keep what you've already got.

And many of these peices were given the Chase paw of approval (we don't want you tipping up furniture but we all know there is a water stained paw print underneath the odd peice)

Have you ever rescued a piece of furniture that deserved a second chance?

We have a bit of a thing for lamps. πŸ’‘

Not just any lamps, mind you.

At Monarch Manor, lighting is part of the furniture, part of the history and very much part of the personality. From delicate Art Nouveau Lily Lamps to Mid Century wood and glass cylinders to art Deco Shades and heritage victorian stands. Peices are often rescued from furniture refuges where Kathy loves to adopt beautiful peices. Some are even brand new and Owen is able to craft them to look vintage.

Delicate glass flowers, crystal drops, sculptural bases and softly glowing shades. Some are wonderfully understated. Others have absolutely no intention of blending in.

Kathy has a particular eye for choosing lighting that complements each apartment's character.

Because a room doesn't just need to be well lit.

It deserves to look lovely doing it.

Are you team chandelier or team vintage table lamp?

OLD THINGS. NEW STORIES. πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ§‘ πŸ¦‹

Some see old furniture. We see possibilities.

At Monarch Manor, restoration is as much a design philosophy as it is an environmental one.

From beautifully crafted wooden furniture to traditional carpets, we've brought pieces from different eras together to create interiors that feel collected rather than manufactured.

Good design doesn't always mean starting again. Sometimes it means recognising what's already worth keeping.

Six apartments. Six personalities. Not a single cookie-cutter interior. πŸ¦‹

At Monarch Manor, we believe accommodation should have as much character as the people staying in it.

From rich Axminster carpets and ornate mirrors to delicate florals, warm timber and mid-century treasures, each of our apartments tells its own story.

Our interiors are thoughtfully curated by Kathy, a former interior decorator with a love of beautiful things, interesting histories and unexpected combinations.

The result? Six distinctly different spaces, each with its own personality, right in the heart of Palmerston North.

Which style would you choose?

🌸 A little nectar between encounters...

Warm spring updrafts, fragrant sweet peas and the Banksia roses in full bloom.

Our garden has become quite the romantic rendezvous for the Monarchs.

A little nourishment, a little fluttering about, and then straight back to business. πŸ¦‹

πŸ¦‹ Love is in the air at Monarch Manor!

Spring has sprung, and so has breeding season.

Our over wintering Monarchs have been enjoying a little afternoon delight amongst the Banksia roses.

Apparently, romance is flourishing in the garden. πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ–€

Meet the Monarch Manor "maintenance departmen".
Kathy, up the ladder (looking chuffed with herself)
Owen, holding the ladder (looking unimpressed with the SM part he is being forced to take)

For the record, Kathy used to do this sort of thing in high heels. Her surgeon put an end to that after her hip replacement.
The ladder, apparently, was not mentioned.

Spring forward, they said. It’s only an hour, they said. πŸ•°οΈ
Unfortunately, the Monarch Manor clock lives up a wall πŸ–€πŸ§‘πŸ’›
Daylight saving arrived, which meant Kathy & Owen had one very important job: get the clock down, move it forward an hour, and put it back.
Simple.
Apparently.
The social media manager had other ideas πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
