From Tourism Bay of Plenty: Waitangi Weekend in our beautiful backyard

The past few weeks have been incredibly challenging for our region. During this time, we’ve seen our community come together with care, support, and resilience — for one another and for the places we all cherish.

Mount Maunganui cafés at the start of Marine Parade are open again and would love local support. If you’re heading our way over the long weekend, consider popping in for a coffee or meal.

Even though some of our most popular tracks are closed, like Mauao and Pāpāmoa Hills Cultural Regional Heritage Park, plenty of other great walking options are open and ready to enjoy. Here is a list of other awesome walks in the area so you can stretch your legs and make the most of the long weekend.

The Bay of Plenty walks is packed with walking trails to explore that showcase the natural beauty of our area from coast, forest, waterfall to wetlands!

It’s very exciting to have our extensive pool updating renovations finally underway. Re-tiling completely, including the surrounding pavings, will ensure our beautiful pool stays our crowning feature for years to come.

Loving the beautiful transformation of our entrance gardens ❤️ PPR is so lucky to have longtime Gardener Wayne’s skill, foresight and expertise for these projects. With both his, and his sidekick Kelly’s, amazing work ethic they make it look easy, but we acknowledge the huge amount of work going into it. Can’t wait to see it finished 🌴🌺 Now we just have to figure out how to stop the rubbish truck from driving over the new plants 🤦‍♀️

The crew had a fab fun day out in Rotorua today. So easy to do so much in a day trip from here in Papamoa. Just 40 mins to get to dozens of brilliant tourist attractions.

This beautiful event is not far away now. Friday 28th June. With the starting point literally across the road from Pacific Palms Resort, it is a must do activity for those fortunate to be staying with us that weekend. And if you live locally, if you haven't done it before, you simply must.

SUMMER IS ON THE WAY!!!

Papamoa Surf Life Saving Club have kicked off their patrol season so we are now back to having flags to swim between when going to the beach, less than a five minute walk from Pacific Palms Resort. Patrols are just at the weekends for now but as usual over the peak holiday period it will be patrolled daily from 10-6pm.

Please always remember the weather and sea conditions can be very unpredictable, especially during spring, so if you’re heading to the beach, please make sure you choose a lifeguarded beach and SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS.
