It's a bittersweet day .... 52 years since my Mum and Dad arrived in Paparoa and it was so wonderful growing up at the Paparoa Pub! This is our last weekend at the Thirsty Tui with our great menu available, tonight Saturday we have a band from 8pm-ish after dinner service, and we're open tomorrow from 11am til late with one of Sumit's authentic curries! It's been an incredible journey including some great games of pool (well for Chris maybe), cleaning some unmentionable things, mending many things, learning how to run a restaurant, have a degustation, pull a beer and just how delicious Kaipara produce is especially the fresh flounder and oysters. Our heartfelt thanks to all our amazing Kaipara friends & customers who inspired us to bring the Thirsty Tui to life. We are looking forward to finding new owners for one of the cutest best little classic country pubs with the friendliest locals in the country. We are so proud of the Tui and we couldn't have done it without all of your support and encouragement. We hope you can come in and have a great last weekend at the Tui and big big big thanks to Sumit and Tatiana for leading the team this final weekend.

Lovely story about our Hotel in the The Northern Advocate this weekend and I've even been hearing from some old friends of Mum and Dad! Looking forward to finding new owners so the Thirsty Tui can carry on being the great little pub it is.

After 52 years in the same family it is time for a change.

The Thirsty Tui Paparoa Hotel will be temporarily closing- last day open Sunday 11th September. We are still open 7 days and serving lunch from 12pm on Thursday and Fridays and from 11am Saturday and Sunday. Looking forward to serving our famous epic Beef Cheeks on Father’s Day! We have a band booked for the 10th thank you to the Kaipara Konnections!! So please do come and pay us a visit before we close.

We’ve met so many amazing people in the last six years and I wanted to express our deep heart felt appreciation for the immense support and friendship the community have offered us. To help us make the old girl beautiful again - Dave for painting, Mike Plunket for everything including table dancing, Ross Latto for refurbishment and Anton for Electrical, Natalie Carl and Hiria Manukau for gardens and lawn, Rachel and Fiona for friendship and advice. Our great local suppliers too - Crabman and Louise, MT Pahi Oysters, Peter Yardley, Kaipara Kumara, Brooke Lane Vineyard and Chapel Olive Oil.

And a massive thanks to all our staff - past and present - who helped us achieve our dream to put the Thirsty Tui on the map with a great reputation for fantastic food, friendly service, cold beer & delicious cocktails. My mum and dad would be proud.

We are open today on Matariki and serving our delicious Salmon pizza with capers and watercress. Come and enjoy our new winter menu!! and very happy Matariki. Open Saturday and Sunday from 10am- closed Monday.
