As the season draws to a close, we want to express our gratitude to our local regulars and visitors to the bay for your support. It’s been a pleasure serving you at the Green Caravan Cafe. We also extend our sincere thanks to Beachcomber Cruises and Cougar Line - Marlborough Sounds; your support of our small business is hugely appreciated. We are now pausing operations for the winter months and look forward to welcoming you back in the spring.

In 2026, our beloved property at the heart of Anakiwa will mark a remarkable milestone: its 100th anniversary.

For a century, our house has stood as a silent witness to the evolving tapestry of our community, serving as a cornerstone of history, culture, and connection. From its origins as a farm manager’s house for the Anakiwa Homestead to its roles as the local school, the home of a celebrated New Zealand author Don Grady, a vibrant backpackers’ lodge, and a cherished self-catering guesthouse, this property has been a place of purpose, creativity, and hospitality.

Here’s to 100 years of history, heart, and welcome—and to the many more to come.
