It's another beautiful Autumn day here at Pouto. We have a few new additions around the camp. The flagpole made it just in time for Anzac day.
Also a lovely upgrade from the cones at the entrance. We now have a gate! With new signage to complete the look.
The days are still warm and the fish are fat!
1st of May saw our first Seal for the season.

March has been alot of fun around here, old friends and new friends. The fishing started a bit slow but seems to be providing well now.
There is always something to do around here.
Indoor bowls is always a hit and you can't beat a campers pot luck dinner.

Sometimes no matter how well you plan you just can't control the weather. This is a busy time for Tour Aotearoa riders and unfortunately the wind hasn't been kind. Last night's sailing was postponed due to conditions and 45 riders had no choice but to wait.
Lots had no food, tents or bedding but we managed to make it work.
Pouto is lucky to have a well stocked shop over the road from the camp and Janeen took great care of keeping cyclists fed with ice creams and potato chips. Our motorhomers were very generous sharing what they could. Fair to say no one went hungry and everyone got a warm bed.
Cold and early start for everyone but off they sailed as the sun came up.
Now we await today's riders for another sailing tonight.

Almost forgot about the late night pizza delivery from the Dargaville trail angels. That was a surprise. Pizza for early breakfast

For those that haven't yet had the pleasure of staying here at the Marine hall here's a peak at what you can expect.
We also have 2 very comfortable rooms in the hall. The large family room sleeps 6 and our bunk room sleeps 7. These are a very affordable option.

A nice early start for our first "Tour Aotearoa" cyclists. Big ride for them yesterday. Opononi to Pouto, quick sleep and recover at the camp then off they go again. Riding Cape to the Bluff.
