The Gallery Accommodation

Located in the peaceful paradise of Mahurangi West and just 35 minutes north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, The Gallery is set on six acres, two of rolling lawns with a four acre backdrop of mature Kauris and stunning sea views out to the Hauraki Gulf.

Designed by renowned architect Pip Cheshire, the property was purpose built as an art gallery/studio and apartment for acclaimed New Zealand artist, Terry Stringer. The gallery space and park like surroundings showcased his bronze sculptures and the property was open to the public as Zealandia Sculpture Gardens in 2001.

The property has since been transformed from art studio, gallery and home into a luxury accommodation retreat. The goal was to retain the aesthetic of the buildings, preserve the artwork of Terry Stringer, while providing people with the opportunity to experience the unique spaces and environment.

The Gallery Accommodation features a native bush walk through towering Rimu and Kauri trees. Listen to the birdsong from Tuis, Woodpigeons, Kookaburras and Kingfishers as you descend the staircase. When you arrive at the viewing platform, you’ll be met by a mighty 1000 year old Kauri tree bearing the mark of a lightning strike from over 200 years ago.
