Flaming Kiwi Travel Tip: Wye Creek Walk
Just a short drive from Queenstown, the Wye Creek Track is an awesome little adventure with some of the best views in the area.
🚶♂️ The walk is steep at the start, but totally worth it, you’ll pass waterfalls, native bush, along some pipes that feed some of Queenstown its water, all as you climb up to stunning alpine views over Lake Wakatipu - if your afraid of heights this will test your nerve close to the top
⏱ Time: Around 2 hours return
What to bring: Good shoes, plenty of water, and some snacks - that view deserves a picnic stop
It’s about a 30 minute from the hostel - look for the Wye Creek sign and carpark. Be careful though… the access road is short but pretty bad, so I’d suggest a 4wd. Or just park at the start of the access if there’s space.
This spot is popular with rock climbers too, so don’t be surprised if you see people scaling the cliffs
