The Ohakune Central Backpackers

The Ohakune Central Backpackers is located in downtown Ohakune just few minutes walk from the main bus stop, cafes, restaurants and supermarket. These are currently being insulated for your comfort so photos will be posted once this is finished. We have also installed central heating. You can book a whole cabin with it's own shower, toilet and kitchenette or share the same facilities with no more

than 3 other people. The cabins have double, single beds and bunks. The kitchenette/dining area in each cabin has everything you need for breakfast including a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, dining table and flat screen sky TV. We also have three studio units with their own private en-suits, TV and Kitchenettes. On site we have a communal kitchen/lounge, off street parking, laundry facilities, free unlimited WiFi, spa pool and tons of secure storage for bikes, skis, & snowboards. Will be also bringing "The Lodge" on line in mid September. This building will house two double studio units with their own private en-suites and kitchenettes, a four bed and 8 bed dorm both with their own en-suites. All these rooms with have direct access to a second communal Lounge and kitchen. Our friendly knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to assist you with any information on all the activities that our great town has to offer. Be it in the winter for skiing & snowboarding or summer time for the hiking or mountain bike trails. If its the more quiet and relaxed time you are after we have in depth information about our local bars and restaurants all only a few minutes walk away.

as an odd coincidence this picture was taken on this exact date - so 1 year ago today Evan Kiljoy and I were hanging out at his place in Rarotonga....talked about our history and a few other bits and bobs over some swims and some whiskeys...

1 year later we have half a dozen new tracks together and we are both stoked to be playing our first set together in about a decade at Ohakune Mardi Gras 2019 with the legend Tiki on the mic
