Omatua - Riverside accommodation Omatua is a riverside accommodation and events centre. A fantastic venue for family reunions, weddings, conferences, seminars, retreats & team building.

Omatua is a riverside accommodation and events centre and is situated amongst the rich, natural surroundings of Rissington, in Hawke’s Bay. The historic homestead of Omatua, built in 1861, was generously gifted 100 years later by the Absolom family to GirlGuiding Hawke’s Bay in 1961. In the early 1880s the original house on the Omatua site of the farm, early relations Frank and Amy Hutchinson live

d prior to the site being gifted to the Girl Guide Association in 1962, and was the historic founding home of the Country Womans Institute where Jerome Spencer’s lived and began it all. Unfortunately, in 1979 the original homestead needed to be replaced, so it was replaced with a modern complex, giving Omatua a new beginning. Facilities include meeting rooms, accommodation, redeveloped picturesque gardens and camping areas. Now run as Omatua - Riverside accommodation by Katie Absolom. Omatua is great for Family Reunions, Self-Contained Accommodation, Special Events and Birthday Celebrations, Corporate Planning Workshops, relaxed Wedding venue and other group getaways. www.omatua.co.nz

Omatua has been host to many events, including conferences, seminars, retreats, training, reunions, picnics, school and Church groups, Guiding and Scouting groups, and family groups. We welcome all.

Join us at Omatua for a special afternoon with Willie Apiata VC as part of the Rural Support Trust's nationwide wellbeing event series.

A former NZSAS soldier and one of New Zealand's Victoria Cross recipients, Willie is known for his courage, humility and honest conversations about resilience, leadership and looking after your mates.

While most of us will never face the situations Willie has, his message about checking in, supporting those around us and navigating life's challenges is something every one of us can relate to.
