Tai Mitchell Hostel Tai Mitchell Hostel is the boarding house of Rotorua Boys' High School founded in 1994.

Our modern hostel offers twin and triple-share accommodation for 138 students across two houses, supervised by resident Housemasters and assistants. In 2005 brand new facilities were built on site, providing accommodation for up to 104 boarders.

Awesome to see our Tai Mitchell Hostel old boys (alongside Matua Arana) competing in the Baywide Club Competition.
It’s always great to see our past students continuing to play rugby and staying connected beyond their time at the hostel.

We would like to take the opportunity to mihi to Year 11 hostel student Tuwhiwhia Pryor for competing at the Te Arawa Ngā Manu Kōrero Regionals yesterday.

Tuwhiwhia represented Raukura in the Pei Te Hurinui Jones Senior Māori section, placing 3rd overall — an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the commitment and courage it takes to stand and speak on the stage. On Monday night, our hostel students were fortunate to hear Tuwhiwhia present his speech before heading into competition.

We are very proud of Tuwhiwhia and look forward to seeing him continue to grow and represent in the years to come.

We are incredibly proud of our boys for winning the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament — a huge achievement and one that has been many years in the making.

This success reflects the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment of the team, along with the unwavering support of their whānau who helped make this journey to Japan possible.
