On 30 October, we close our 2026 Event Calendar with a very special overnight celebration of magic from Executive Chef Jimmy McIntyre and famed French Ch*****ne house, Louis Roederer.

Ch*****ne and Oscietra caviar to begin, then four courses in Otahuna’s historic Dining Room from our spring potager, each paired with a rare cuvée, including 2016 Cristal. Afterwards, an indulgent night awaits in one of our suites followed by a decadent breakfast.

Limited to 14 guests and with only a handful of places still remaining, reserve today. Link in bio.

We're honoured to announce that Otahuna Lodge has again been awarded today Two MICHELIN Keys – “An Exceptional Stay” – for 2026.

Last year this recognition felt like being noticed – amongst the first ever awarded in New Zealand. This year feels like being trusted – to keep doing exactly what we've always done.

We remain among the highest-ranked properties in New Zealand to earn this distinction, and we're proud to stand alongside our celebrated lodge partners throughout our incredible homeland.

The real credit, however, sits with our extraordinary team of “Otahunans” — the ones who’ve always believed a storied 130-year-old house and its gardens are deserving of the very biggest dreams.

Two Keys. One legendary New Zealand home.

Back by popular demand, we are delighted to have culinary legend Nic Watt joining us again at Otahuna on 19 September. Nic—alongside Otahuna Executive Chef Jimmy McIntyre—will personally es**rt guests on a "four-hands” culinary journey, showcasing incredible cuisine and expert w**e pairings for one very special overnight event.

Be quick, however. Each of our 2026 special events have sold-out and with only two rooms still remaining for this night, make sure and reserve your place today.

Twenty years ago today, we first called Otahuna home.

We didn’t know then what we know now. We couldn’t have. All the adventures, the smiling faces of new and old Otahunans, and the thousands of guests who’ve walked through our doors and in turn left a little bit of themselves behind.

But, we knew in 2006—much as Heaton Rhodes did when he presented the estate as a grand wedding present to his young bride Jessie in 1895—there is an undeniable magic in this legendary house and its extraordinary gardens.

Two decades on, we’d like to think that New Zealand’s grand old lady has never been more vibrant nor more fully herself. Not preserved — alive. Not frozen — flourishing. Cared for by a team we’re endlessly proud to call family.

As we start the 2026–2027 season, there is so much more to come — an all-new suite to reveal, new dishes born of a potager unlike any other, a new range of creations infused with the spirit of this place and new experiences to help fall in love with our extraordinary corner of the world.

Twenty years in, we are only just beginning. Now, more than ever we can’t wait to welcome you home. To our home.

We’re delighted to share that Otahuna has been named to the World’s 50 Best Discovery family.

For our extraordinary team who continually re-fashions a legendary 1895 estate and for our guests from around the world who celebrate their time with us here, thank you for making our New Zealand home worth discovering.

06/07/2026

As an extraordinary season draws to a close, there comes a moment to simply say thank you.

For all of you who joined us at our home over the past year — you are the reason this place comes alive. It has been our privilege and joy.

We’ll be here again from mid-August — rested, ready, and delighted to welcome you back to New Zealand’s legendary home.

The charm of Tai Tapu is the combination of countryside, heritage and the Port Hills. One of the things that should definitely be on your list is hiking around the Port Hills that sit behind Otahuna. Via the Crater Rim Walkway you can reach two of the Port Hills' finest lookouts, Gibraltar Rock and Coopers K**b. Coopers K**b is the highest point on the Port Hills offering a breathtaking 360-degree panorama from the Southern Alps all the way to Lyttelton Harbour. Together they provide a wonderful introduction to the unique volcanic landscape that surrounds us.

For me I take pride in preparing our suites, so guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive. Fresh flowers arranged just right, everything perfectly placed, and a space that feels calm and immaculate. There's a real sense of satisfaction in creating an environment where guests can relax completely and enjoy their time at Otahuna. Knowing that our work helps make someone's stay truly memorable is what brings me the most joy.

I enjoy working with the gerberas we grow at Otahuna. They bring a bright, cheerful energy indoors. Their colours add character, and their simple blooms help create a warm, welcoming feel for guests.
