6️⃣ years of hosting at our Hut ✨

What started as a simple idea has grown into something pretty special. We’re so grateful for every guest who’s been part of the journey.

To celebrate, we’re sharing some of our favourite photos 📸 and a timeline of moments that have shaped it all.

Another incredible experience at our favourite restaurant, .nz ✨

This time we were celebrating Nana Rae’s big birthday 🎈 Frankie tagged along after our babysitting plans fell through, and the Embra team went above and beyond to make her feel welcome. She’s not quite at the stage of enjoying a five-course degustation just yet, but they made sure she was well looked after 🙏

Each dish was a work of art and a joy to taste. My standout was the venison loin with braised venison and swede cottage pie, quince, and rainbow chard 👌

Thanks, Embra — a must-do experience when you next visit Taupō 💛

🫖 A sweet new addition to our Hut — a beautiful teapot cosy lovingly knitted by Nana Rae (Brent’s mum). Perfect for long, slow mornings with a hot cup of tea in hand. We provide a selection of teas to choose from, including “gumboot” (normal) tea and a range of herbal blends 🌿. Help yourself and enjoy!

These big beauties are finally blooming! The dahlia tubers came from Brent’s grandad, so we estimate they’re at least 60 years old—carefully looked after all these years by Brent’s aunt. How amazing that one has white-edged petals while the other doesn’t. Nature is just so clever! Expect to see these lovelies popping up in the Hut bouquets 💐

🚸 Kids are very welcome at our hut! It can be a little snug, but we can set up stretchers on either side of the king bed or provide a portacot if needed. We also have a selection of child-friendly games, a playhouse, and monkey bars that Frankie is happy to share. Families are more than welcome to explore the land and meet all the farm animals too 🐮🐑🐓. Just let us know what you need and we’ll organise the bedding arrangement for you.

🪑Can you ever have enough comfy chairs? New to us (old/surplus from Brent’s parents), these folding chairs are the perfect addition—great for chasing the morning sun 🌞 with a coffee or relaxing in the shade with a cold beverage 🍻.

One of our favourite parts about sharing Kawakawa Hut is seeing families enjoy the simple things we love most — like little ones visiting the animals each morning. 🐮🐑🐓

It’s such a special feeling watching guests slow down, wander the paddocks, and connect with the land the way we get to every day. That’s really why we opened our home — to share a slice of that peaceful, grounding farm life with others. 💚
