We are looking forward to a beautiful spring at Hare's Rest. Our 6,000 bluebells should be looking at their best in late September to early October and the Rhodos late October. Enjoy a few days to chill out at Hare's Rest and enjoy the peace and abundant bird life. With the vagaries of Spring you could either be tucked up in front of the fire, or sitting on the deck in the sunshine... either way a great way to relax.

Rhodos and azalea are currently at their best and the garden is bursting. But there are also great things to enjoy when the sun goes down. We are just far enough out of town, that we have no light pollution. On a clear night, it is lovely to sit out on the deck, or if you are a bit more adventurous, take a blanket and lie out on the grass and do a bit of star gazing – always a few shooting stars to be seen. Recent guests who have had the Tekapo experience said it was just as good at Hare's Rest

Colour and Perfume in the garden
We have planted loads of rhododendrons and many planted near our woodland garden are scented. We have created lots of grass paths around our 25 acres and we encourage guests to enjoy the garden which at this time of year also includes bursts of blossom trees. We have a supply of Wellies. Of course, many guests bring their dog and they are always keen to check out all corners of the property.

17 years of planting deciduous trees at Hare’s Rest certainly pays off with fabulous Autumn colours over the next couple of months. Typically the weather in early autumn can be very pleasant, great for mountain biking, walking and golfing. A soak at Wairakei Terraces mineral hot pools is a must.

Our guests this weekend treated themselves to one of our catered dinners of NY thick cut scotch fillet, dauphinoise potato and salad (much of it from our garden) followed by Chocolate Torte, tamarillo poached in orange juice/vanilla bean topped off with a mix or organic cream and yoghurt. Rupert had his own special treat, although I expect he also got a bit of the scotch fillet as well.

We welcome well behaved dogs to The Lodge at Hare's Rest. Many of our guests over the past year have enjoyed sharing their holiday with their best friends. Max was a recent guest and made himself very comfortable. Despite plenty of rabbits to chase, he chose the more relaxing options.
