There’s something special about surfing in New Zealand 🌊🇳🇿 — raw coastlines, uncrowded waves, and a deep connection to nature that makes every session unforgettable.

At Te Arai Lodge, surfing is one of the experiences we love sharing most with our guests 🤍 From beach breaks, to long breaking points and empty lineups, Te Arai has quietly become one of New Zealand’s most incredible surf destinations 🏄‍♂️🌅 This beautiful Sirpa artwork perfectly captures that feeling of heading out with anticipation for what’s beyond.

We’ve also spent the last two weeks down in Raglan watching the WSL event, and it’s been incredible to witness the world’s best surfers competing here in New Zealand 🙌🔥 The level of talent, atmosphere, and energy has been so entertaining and inspiring to watch — and a reminder of just how special our surf culture and coastline really are 🌊✨

Already counting down to next year’s event and our next swell in Te Arai 🤙🏽🏄‍♀️

A few weeks back, we hosted a Te Arai gravel cycling weekend for 20 riders — and what a weekend it was 🚴‍♂️🌿

The gravel riding around Te Arai is exceptional, and it is one of the best ways to explore the region. Over the weekend, riders took on a mix of local gravel roads, including a bigger 100km loop through Pakiri to Matakana and back 🛤️🔥

Of course, it wasn’t just about the riding. It was also the perfect excuse to get on the bike, explore the incredible food, coffee and scenery of the region, and enjoy plenty of good banter along the way ☕🍽️🌊

Fantastic riding, great food, strong coffee, and a brilliant crew — hard to ask for much more 🙌

For those who haven’t heard, there’s also a new cycle path in the works: the Coastal Trail, running from Puhoi to Mangawhai via Te Arai. Once complete, it’s going to be an amazing asset for our region and a huge boost for cycling and local tourism 🚲🌏

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the weekend — we’re already looking forward to the next one 👏

Three keys. One unforgettable weekend 🔑✨

A classic Morgan roadster for open-air coastal cruising? 🌊🌬️
A vintage Land Rover Defender for a timeless, rugged escape? 🏞️🚙
Or the modern Defender — effortless luxury with go-anywhere confidence? 🚘✨

From winding coastal roads to hidden beaches, long lunches at local cafés ☕🍽️, and afternoons spent at boutique wineries 🍷… the journey is just as important as the destination.

If you were staying with us at Te Arai Lodge — which would you choose to explore it all? 😎

One of our favourite times of the year—feijoa season! Late summer into early autumn also means olive harvest, and we love preserving both. From feijoas to our own olive oil, it’s all about capturing these flavours to enjoy all year round. 😋

Our Ruru Barn is a little oasis tucked quietly behind the main lodge 🌿

Wake up to garden views through oversized windows that open wide to the fresh coastal air, step out onto your private patio, and unwind beside the cosy fire. 🔥

Inside, soaring ceilings create a beautiful sense of calm and space, while carefully curated art, thoughtful designer details, and luxurious furnishings make every corner feel special. 🖼️

It’s the kind of place where mornings are slow, evenings are warm, the outside world fades away for a while, and the little rituals soothe the soul. ☕️

There’s nothing quite like waking up at Te Arai Lodge to the aroma of freshly toasted fruit bread 🍇 🍞 🧈

Each morning we serve delicious fruit toast & sourdough from — baked fresh daily using organic flour from and the finest ingredients.

Lightly toasted, generously spread with organic butter, and finished with golden honey harvested right here on our property — it’s a simple ritual done exceptionally well.

It’s the little luxuries that make a morning special in Te Arai.
