Limestone Valley Estate Limestone Valley Estate. Our lavender farm and farmstay on New Zealand's stunning South Island All this within 45 mins of Limestone Valley Estate!

Nestled amongst the foothills and farmlands of South Canterbury on New Zealand's South Island, with stunning views of the country's well-known Southern Alps, Limestone Valley Estate offers a serenely beautiful escape. Limestone Valley Estate's Lavender fields and Olive grove add to the uniqueness of this little slice of Provence in the Southern Hemisphere. Owners, Julie and Mike Ainsworth offer a property that echoes the Lavender fields from the South of France and the Olive region of Tuscany whilst retaining a very Kiwi flavour with a colour palette taken from New Zealand's breath-taking environment. Comfortable country accommodation, all within a region offering so much to see and experience. Sit back and take in the views with a glass of local wine, olives and treats created using Lavender oil and flowers, or go on an adventure to the high country to see soaring mountains piercing the sky, aqua blue lakes, ski runs that seemingly go for an eternity and beaches where you will often catch a glimpse of passing dolphins and whales.

Not bad if I say so myself...

🏆 We're absolutely chuffed! 🏆

We're so proud to share that Limestone Valley Estate has won not one but TWO Silver Awards at the 2026 Supreme Oil Awards, presented by the NZ Lavender Growers Association - for our Lavandula Angustifolia 'Pacific Blue' and our Lavandula x Intermedia 'Grosso'!

What makes this extra special is that this is our very first distilling season on the farm. First year withthe still, first attempt - and to come away with two Silver Awards is beyond what we imagined.

None of this happens without help, so a few huge thank yous:

To Paul Greaves, who custom built our still - your craftsmanship is amazing. We couldn't have started this journey without you.

To Charlotte and Keith Brown, thank you for so generously sharing your years of distilling and growing knowledge with us. Your guidance has been invaluable in getting us to this point, and we're so grateful for your patience with all our questions!

And of course, quality control wouldn't be complete without our supervisor Pinot the cat, who insisted on joining every single photo with the certificates (whether he was invited or not)

Huge thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way. This is just the beginning - we can't wait to see where the next season takes us!

A very blustery and showery morning here - and a quite spectacular double rainbow 🌈

The lavenders are at their very best and the weather is stunning here. Come on down. Explore the sculpture garden and chill in the lavender rows. You'll likely see Mike hard at work harvesting the lavender in the back field, and distilling our essential oil that will go into all our natural products in the coming year.
I'll be in my workshop making a fresh batch of Lavender & Magnesium cream. We've sold out - again!!!
Just pull up and we'll look forward to welcoming you.

Gardens entry: $10/car.
Shop: Free entry.

Happy New Year to everyone! This year has been another active one in our little lavender empire-building exercise. We have been busier than ever with our lavender products and welcoming guests to our farmstay.
Two major developments in the last few months have been me changing to a day job where I am working from home - This has allowed me to replace my morning commute with walks with Mike and the dogs in the lavenders, saying hello to the alpacas and Fred the sheep.
The other seriously major (and exciting) change has been the installation of our custom-made still to allow us to distill our lavender oils here on the farm. Thank you to Paul Greaves and all his work designing & building specifically for us. Also a massive thanks to Charlotte and Keith at Herbal Visionz for all their support, sharing their passion for lavender and distilling since our arrival here in the South Island.
We were happy to have all our children here for the holidays this year - And surely they will all tell you that the most precious gift they received was their bottle of Pacific Blue essential oil - Mike takes the credit for the label - 'Still number One'!
Our challenge for the new year is to get down to harvesting & distilling the lot. Wish us luck!
