Recevez les salutations de Hikihiki’s Villa. Nommée en l’honneur de notre grand-mère et arrière grand-mère, comme ses descendants, cette structure d’accueil et d’hospitalité nous appartient et est gérée par nous-mêmes.

Hikihiki’s Villa est un lieu où séjourner et récupérer de vos fatigues. Parmi les merveilles du lieu, vous entendrez le chant des oiseaux endémiques. Vous trouverez un grand nombre de spectaculaires chutes d’eau où vous pourrez vous rendre. Vous serez surpris de la tranquilité que notre environnement vous procurera.

Pour ceux qui aiment la chasse (daims et cochons), il vous sera possible de vous rendre avec les habitants du terroir dans la forêt. La pêche est aussi une activité très populaire. Parmi les nombreuses activités que nous vous proposons, vous pourrez choisir de faire une randonnée pédestre autour du lac Waikaremoana ou pique-niquer à Waikareiti. Vous pourrez assister à une démonstration de la médecine traditionnelle pratiquée par les Maori d’autrefois.

Hikihiki’s Villa se trouve dans la forêt humide de Urewera le long de la SH38. Nous sommes à 45 minutes de voiture de Wairoa ou 3 heures de Rotorua.

Les Tarifs

Menu A La Carte

Petit – déjeuner: œufs pochés sur toast, œufs au bacon, saucisses, omelettes, fruits et jus de fruits.

Déjeuner – sandwiches ‘club’, soupe du jour, pain de mie, fruits, salade ‘Caesar’, salade verte, salade de pomme de terre et œufs mimosa.

Diner – blancs de poulet farcis servis avec du fromage et purée de pomme de terre, gibier farci aux champignons mariné au vin rouge, poisson rôti aux légumes, rôti de bœuf et de porc. Des menus végétariens sont également disponibles.

Arts et Artisanat

Hikihiki’s Villa propose également un large choix d’objets artisanaux (paniers, sculpture et bois tournés) pour vos souvenirs.

Conferences

• 宿泊費は一泊お一人様80-120ドル（NZ$80-$120)で、朝食が含まれます。また別料金にて追加料理のご注文を承ります。鹿肉料理や豚肉料理などもご用意しております。お食事は全て自家製です。

Hikihiki's Cottage, Waikaremoana - Wairoa, Hawkes Bay. Home Away From Home

Hikihiki’s Cottage is named after my great grandmother, Hikihiki Noa of Waikaremoana. According to the age on her death certificate, Hikihiki Noa was born in 1869 and died 6 June 1945, at the age of 76.

Hikihiki Noa with her family grew up at Whareama in Waikaremoana. This was before they were dispossessed alongside many others after 1871, according to the Scorched Earth Policy and relocated to live where Te Kuha and Waimako marae are today. The Government instigated this callous act of violence, where they sent soldiers in to raid and burn the people’s villages, destroy their food supply and even executed innocent people, in order to form part of the National Tourist Park in 1908, known today as the Urewera National Park.

Gazetted in 1908, the Government officially took thousands of acres of land around Waikaremoana, including a large portion from the Whareama, which was later put under the control of the Tourist Department. The remaining 300 acres of the Whareama was later taken in 1925.

My great grandmother, although two years of age at the time, was made subject to the noise of gunfire, the smell of burning huts and the screams of people dying and in disarray. She was severely forced and dispossessed off prime land around Waikaremoana and left to suffer the impact of colonization. My business has been named in her honour.
