The lights are on, the rooms are warm, and winter has arrived in Tuakau.

As the days get shorter and the evenings settle in, there's something special about slowing down and enjoying the comfort of a place that's been welcoming travellers and locals alike for generations.

Whether you're passing through, visiting family, or simply appreciating the quieter pace of the season, you'll always find a warm welcome here in the heart of town.

Following on from our eXplore update, here’s a great group photo capturing the energy of this year’s event.

This was our second year attending eXplore — a trade event that brings tourism operators together with travel buyers, inbound tour operators and industry partners who help shape how New Zealand experiences are packaged and shared with visitors.

For Tuakau Hotel, attending eXplore is about more than introducing our property. It’s about building relationships, learning how buyers are planning itineraries, and understanding where a boutique hotel like ours can fit — particularly for FIT travellers, couples, self-drive itineraries, small groups, and first or last night stays near Auckland.

Nice to catch up with so many operators and see the variety of experiences being showcased from across the Central North Island.

Proud to represent Tuakau Hotel and be part of a growing tourism network helping visitors discover more of New Zealand.

Community and sustainability go hand in hand.

If you have old laptops, printers, mobile phones, small appliances or other unwanted electronics sitting at home, Waikato District Council is holding an e-waste collection day in Tuakau.

📍 Les Batkin Reserve, Tuakau
📅 Saturday, 16 May
⏰ 9:30am – 2:00pm

It’s a great chance to safely recycle outdated electronics and keep harmful materials out of landfill, waterways and our local environment.

Small actions like this make a real difference — and it’s always good to see practical sustainability initiatives happening right here in our community.

Great to see fellow Waikato operators at eXplore show last week alongside so many passionate tourism businesses and experiences from across the region.

The Waikato offers such a diverse mix of attractions, boutique stays, nature experiences and regional hospitality — from iconic visitor destinations through to smaller operators creating more personalised travel experiences.

At Tuakau Hotel, we play in the boutique accommodation space, offering a more relaxed and personalised stay experience for free independent travellers, couples, self-drive itineraries and small groups.

Located just 45 minutes from Auckland Airport the hotel is well positioned as a convenient first or last night stay for visitors exploring New Zealand.

Always great connecting with fellow operators and being part of the wider effort to showcase the diversity of experiences across the Waikato region.

One of those moments that reminds us why we love what we do 🤎

We were surprised with these beautiful flowers today from a recent guest. Totally unexpected, and it truly made our day.

It’s little moments like this that remind us hospitality is all about people. Thank you for the kindness.
