This morning we were able to pay respect to one of Tangaroas amazing Tamariki sadly stranded on the barren unruly sands of Farewell Spit. Yesterday DOC and locals were able to refloat another Male and calf/baby to safer deeper waters. Most stranding's end in low percentage of survival so yesterday was a little win to the team. RIP beautiful Paikea.

Such a great photo, a wee bit of history from the coal mining days in Puponga. Not much left now but still a few very cool pieces of the old coal carts around :)
