We spent a great weekend with Mary and Tim visiting from The Olive Rabbit Tūrangi - was great to have time to chat and share ideas.

We also got out and about on the Kapiti Coast visiting one of our favourite cafes in Te Horo called The Bus Stop. Wren also enjoyed lots of pats and a visit to the local Waikanae market and Te Horo garden centre.

Sadly it’s time to say goodbye to our with Fiordland Discovery as we nestled into Wet Jacket Arm to await our lift out to civilisation. It has been an absolute trill to see this part of New Zealand, met some amazing people, new friendships and to be hosted by the amazing team at Fiordland Discovery. We had a little time bonus of spending a few extra hours on the boat as we waited for our lift out by helicopter. By mid afternoon the air finally cleared in Te Anau to sadly lift us off the boat and back to the real world. Amazing experience and highly recommend doing this trip if you ever get the chance.

Wow the trip just gets more spectacular with Fiordland Discovery - day six and being in Dusky Sound we have multiple choices of places to visit to enjoy the amazing scenery of the Sound. To the many nooks and crannies of Dusky was sublime………..
Hard to justify in words how spectacular this area of is and travelling with Jack and the team from Fiordland Discovery made it seamless for us to just sit back and enjoy the environment and history of this historical location. First class experience and absolutely worth jumping on board to be pampered by the team.

The continued with Fiordland Discovery ventured us out in what we thought was open waters from Anchor Island out to see the Five Fingers Point - it wasn’t open water at all we were protected by Jack, our skipper, from the rough 8 metre swells of the Tasman Sea. Spectacular day to see the amazing forest of Anchor Island and her lake, to the almost open water of the Tasman. Amazing to see the New Zealand Fur seal pups playing in the safe waters. Another outstanding day with Fiordland Discovery on the 6 night Southern Fiords explore.

Amazing day 4 of our with Fiordland Discovery as we call Sportsman Cove our home for the next couple of nights. Stunning location to explore via Kayak and Tender protected from the elements further out in the open sea. Brilliant to hear the history of when Captain Cook and his crew used this bay for long boat races and musket practice. Nice to be upfront to enjoy the views and to prepare ourselves for a bit of fishing. Brilliant Fiordland National Park just keeps revealing her surprises. Our crew were knowledgeable and helpful across all aspects of this experience and adventure.

Day 3 of our with Fiordland Discovery. Captain Jack knows every bay, river and sound of Fiordland to exemplify this truely amazing experience on offer in this unique part of New Zealand. After a rather bumpy trip into the Tasman sea, yes sea legs definitely needed, it was time to venture in to beautiful Dusky Sound. Time to do some walking to Moose Lake albeit very wet. It constantly rained for the duration of the walk - that just adds to the experience. For the food lovers on the boat - time to catch some blue cod and pull up the cray pots. What’s in store next - every day just gets better and better.

Wow - amazing of Fiordland with Fiordland Discovery - every day just gets better and better. The sun didn’t shine but the vista and views were outstanding. This is truely an amazing part of New Zealand to visit and well worth taking the time to do this trip. The scale of the Fiords is breathtaking. We were promised seeing the amazing dolphins of Doubtful Sound and Jack the Skipper lived up to his promise. All I can say is - every day just gets better in this awesome spectacular part of New Zealand.

Day 2 with the amazing Fiordland Discovery 6 night Southern Fiords trip getting out on the Kayaks enjoying the absolute wilderness of Fiordland National Park. Amazing to slide into the Kayaks with Jacqui Gibson and our amazing guide Madeleine, to spend 3 hours exploring the gorgeous Camelot River. The rain added to the atmosphere to give us a surreal experience out on the water. If this is the way we start the adventure, then the next few days will be amazing. Nice to escape into the great outdoors of remote New Zealand.
