Awakino River Lodge offers self-contained, secluded accommodation in Awakino, near Near Plymouth, West Coast North Island New Zealand. Built-in 1884 as a general store, this iconic building has had a rich history, having been used as a Post office, a Bus depot and tea room, a museum, café and has even at one stage had Petrol pumps attached. Awakino River Lodge is now a newly renovated exclusive French provincial-style lodge providing boutique accommodation in coastal Taranaki / Waikato, New Zealand.

The Gorge though remains closed until later today i am told
