Good afternoon
There has been reports of a four legged black and white animal wandering around the top of the hill at Waikite. Which hill you ask .
Apparently on the other side of Linda's place.

So the government with all its wisdom is in the process of looking to adjust speed limits. They are thinking about increasing the stretch of road around Waiotapu back to 100klm. Some years ago a lot of hard work was put into reducing this section of road to 80klms. Now it seems we have to fight again to maintain what we have.
Two days ago a tourist pulled out of Waiotapu Loop road not at speed. Patrons watched as said tourist did not accelerate and a truck and trailer unit coming from the south was forced to the left side of the road and almost hit the guard rail and the tourist was driving down the middle of the road to avoid the truck unit.
This had the potential to be a very nasty incident. Had the speed limit been 100klms there could have been an entirely different outcome.
The police have been noticably present over the past few weeks booking speeding vehicles.
Reverting this area back to 100klms per hour is not a step forward for road safety or progress.
I live and work directly in this area. I see and here what happens. Tractors, truck and trailer units, milk tankers, logging trucks, school buses, tourists, local traffic traverse this section of road every day. Why would they even think to put the speed zone back to 100 klms . In winter the fog can be horrendous with very low visibility. 100klms no thank you.
