🐝 Something is buzzing into town soon… and we're excited to be part of it! 🐝

Last night at our club meeting, we came together to confirm our plans to buzz around the city and get involved with Bee in the City - a fantastic event coming to Wellington in just under 5 weeks!

We can't wait to join in the fun, celebrate our city, and get behind this wonderful community event and see the bees take flight.

And there's more… πŸ‘€πŸ

Keep watching this space, because we've got some competitions, activities and plenty of fun planned for the event to help celebrate and take part!

We're buzzing with excitement after attending tonight's Bee reveal event! 🐝

A couple of our club members were lucky enough to get a first look at our sponsored Bee, along with all the other incredible Bees supporting Life Flight.

We couldn't be prouder of our artist, Cecily Guarrera. Her creativity and passion has resulted in something truly special, and we can't wait for everyone to see it when the trail launches across Wellington.

Keep an eye on our social media over the coming weeks for a few sneak peeks before the Bees spread their wings across the city. We can't wait to share it with you!

We were delighted on Tuesday evening to welcome our members and several guests for a truly inspiring presentation from artist and educator Cecily Guarrera.

Cecily shared her story and inspiration behind the beautiful Bee in the City sculpture she is designing and painting which our club has sponsored. Drawing on the concept of swarm intelligence - how bees work together without central control - she invited us to reflect on what we can learn from nature about collaboration, connection, and community. It was a thoughtful and moving presentation that left many of us inspired and reflecting long after the presentation.

We were also pleased to welcome several visitors, including Karen Juliette from Juliette Florist, who we partner with to deliver Mother's Day flowers, Solomon Lee, an American journalism student at Massey University and intern with The Local - community newspaper, and Ainie Kwok from Rotary Interact, a long-time friend of our club.

Thank you, Cecily, for sharing your passion and vision with us. We can't wait to see the bee come to life, buzzing around Wellington as part of Life Flight's Bee in the City trail!

🎨 Join Us for an Inspiring Evening with Artist Cecily Guarrera

We're delighted to welcome Cecily Guarrera as our guest speaker and honoured guest at our next Rotary Club meeting on Tuesday evening.

As a lifelong teacher, organisational coach, and artist, Cecily uses art as a way to explore complex ideas and human behaviour. During her presentation, she'll share the story behind the Life Flight Bee she's been painting for Bee in the City, and how it represents the fascinating concept of swarm intelligence - the extraordinary way bees work together without central control.

It's a thought-provoking look at what we, as people and organisations, can learn from nature's collective wisdom.

🧠 We had a fantastic time at Sunday's Quiz Night, hosted by the Rotary Club of Wellington North - Karori to Khandallah, raising funds for Lifting the Lid.

Our Rotary quiz experts were out in force, enjoying a great evening of trivia, laughs, and friendly competition. After plenty of challenging questions and some close scoring, we were delighted to finish fourth equal!

A big thank you to the organisers for putting on such a fun and successful event, and congratulations to all the teams who took part.

A special shout-out to our club member Ben, who also had a bit of extra luck on the night, winning one of the runner-up raffle prizes! πŸŽ‰

Thanks again to the Rotary Club of Wellington North - Karori to Khandallah for a great evening in support of such an important cause.

πŸ’™ Thank You! πŸ’™

A big shout-out to the trustees of the F H Muter Charitable Trust and the E M Pharazyn Charitable Trust for their generous recent donations to our Rotary Club.

Support like this helps us to continue to make a real difference across Wellington through the many community projects and organisations we proudly support. These range from projects including Lifting the Lid on Youth Mental Health, supporting the life-saving work of Life Flight, providing memorable experiences for local children through Circus Quirkus and helping local schools, youth programmes and many other community initiatives.

We are so grateful for their generosity and the trust they have put in our club.

Every donation we receive allows us to continue to live Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self and to make a lasting positive impact on our community.

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Mt Victoria we would like to thank the trustees of the F H Muter Charitable Trust and the E M Pharazyn Charitable Trust and all of our supporters, sponsors and donors for your generosity and commitment to help make Wellington a better place. We really appreciate your continued support.

From everyone at the Rotary Club of Mount Victoria, we wish you and your loved ones a happy and meaningful Matariki

Matariki is a special time to remember those who have passed. It’s also a time to celebrate the present and look ahead with hope. We come together with whānau, friends, and our wider community to reflect on what we have achieved and to look forward to new opportunities.

The values of remembrance, connection, service, and hope are at the heart of Rotary. We’re grateful for the chance to serve our Wellington community and look forward to making a positive difference together in the year ahead.

✨ Wherever you celebrate Matariki, we hope you enjoy this time of reflection, renewal, and connection ✨
