Stories in stone literally come to life at Narbo Via, Narbonne’s fabulous musee of Roman archeology. Incredible to read about families of influence importing goods to Narbonne and distributing them throughout the region. A Roman outpost of significance and wealth captured in blocks, buildings, tombs and takes. Highly recommend (just 25 mins from Quarante).

A huge Sunday at the Grand Déballage in Pézenas! A fabulous day full of incredible stories, objects and people. We came away with three paintings and some fabulous Moroccan pottery. Hundreds of stalls along with permanent brocantes in this charming village.

Lunch in Béziers at Les Halles. Friends and colleagues share a glass of w**e over good food and unhurried conversation - not a cell phone in sight. Love French 🇫🇷 living!

The rain was biblical this week so we stepped indoors to see the Cathedral in Narbonne. The world needs more grace and kindness so I took time to light a candle for family loved 🥰 and lost, still remembered.

We’ve converted our studio study into our daily Pilates studio with mats and weights and it’s brilliant. And the country walks through vineyards and rolling countryside are sublime.
Always moments of surprise and delight along the way. Ahhh Quarante.

We arrived after 25+ hours in the air to find the little house full of welcoming memories and collections.
We’ve a laundry list of tasks we want to get through including painting and sprucing the place up but for now just taking some time to appreciate and enjoy the little details is delicious.😋 Nikki

Home again in Quarante, France - and this little village🏠gives us a sense of calm as life is slow and meaningful. All the older folk we meet say ‘Bonjour’ politely. The children also take time to acknowledge. The little shopping rituals and lingering conversations at the til would be met with impatience in NZ, here they are given space and respect. Choosing a baguette should take time. But honestly you had us at the village square full of the fragrance of freshly baked . 🥖 Nikki and John
