Just Magic

A room with a view.

Last night I headed out to Stingray Bay. This is the bay just before Cathedral Cove, and at low tide, you can walk around the rocks to an awesome cave.

I knew it would line up nicely with the rising Milky Way. I just had to wait for all the conditions to line up so I could shoot there.

Keeping it simple with this single shot on the Sony A7Riv and 24mm GM. 13 seconds | f/2.2 | ISO 6,400. I shone my torch for a very brief moment, bouncing it off the back of the cave to reveal a small amount of texture from the cave walls.

Otherworldly Night

Reminds me of a scene you'd see from a movie like the Lord of the Rings. And it's right here in the Coromandel!

Ever since discovering this location I've been meaning to get back here to capture the Milky Way. Last night I had that opportunity.

This is the first real test for Astro on the Sony A7Riv, I'm impressed with the results.

The pinnacles in the coromandel a great walk and climb very rewarding when get to the top.

It’s officially summer in Whitianga today. And nothing says it better than a tractor patiently waiting for its boat to return, with a flowering pohutukawa keeping watch in the background.
