Activites at Sand Dollar Beach Bed and Breakfast:
There is a Reading and Games Room available to all guests upstairs, where they can relax alone or with friends. There are books to borrow or trade and there is a TV with a DVD player so our guests can kick off their sandals and watch a movie after a long day on the beach. LOCATION:
Bocas del Toro, Panama! The Archipelago de Bocas is situated on the West Caribbean side of Panama close to the border with Costa Rica. There are many Islands that make up the Archipelago; however, Isla Colon, the main Island is the biggest and where most of the action takes place. Sand Dollar Beach Bed & Breakfast is close enough to town to provide amenities (wifi, telephone, electricity, water services) but far enough away to let you know you have really gotten away from it all. We are outside of busy Bocas town, but just a $1 cab ride, or easy 10-minute bike ride, away. There are 4 or more daily flights from Panama City via Air Panama (www.flyairpanama.com/tickets)
There are also direct flights from San Jose, Costa Rica via Nature Air (www.natureair.com)
ATTRACTIONS
Horseback riding: We can arrange to have horses come right to our property. Take a ride out to a secret swimming lagoon or just ramble through the jungle looking for monkeys. Boat tours: We can help you find a tour that meets your interests, to any of the several islands in the area. Turtle nesting: Bocas is home to nesting grounds for the Leatherback turtles. Best season to view them is from April to July. Bike riding: The best way to get around the island is on a bicycle. We can help you rent a bike by the day, or for the duration of your stay. Zip lining: On nearby Bastimientos, have the thrill of zooming through the forest canopy. Surfing: World class surfing
Scuba diving: Hook up with one of several dive operators to visit underwater Bocas. Botanical gardens: Just a 5-minute walk away is Cerro del Mono Botanical Gardens where your hosts will take you on a walking tour to view flora and fauna. Chocolate farm: Take a boat ride to the mainland where you can visit a cacao farm. Swimming: Did we mention the bay out front for great swimming all year??? Float toys available for the more relaxing swim. CLIMATE (part of attractions?)
Rain can come at any time.
2 dry seasons: Feb. to May, August to October
September usually calmest seas and sunniest days. Temperatures from low 70s to high 80s. Unlike in town, we can generally count on cooling sea breezes, so air conditioning is not necessary. CONTACT
