We just hosted Loyola University Maryland's Office of International Programs for their spring break travel experience.

8 days. The Panama Canal. An indigenous village. Waterfalls. Surfing. Paddleboarding. Yoga. Community service at a local school. Salsa dancing. A farewell bonfire.

Madison Leadley, the Associate Director of the Study Aboard Program, wrote: "The perfect balance of fun, wellness, challenge and delicious food. We will never forget this experience."

This is what we do — help universities and groups experience Panama in a way that's immersive, well-organized, and meaningful.

If you know a teacher, professor, or study abroad director who's looking for a spring break destination, we'd love an intro. 🇵🇦

This gem is one of the many gorgeous waterfalls in the area and a wonderful addition to your next retreat excursion.

If you are planning a retreat, you want your group to have moments like these.

If your program is looking for encounters that can't be resolved in a single conversation, you'll want to hear this story.

We bought furniture from El Espave years ago, a small village on Chame Bay. When Sean scouted paddleboard access nearby, he already knew the families. What he didn't expect to find: a charcoal operation. Mangroves cut, stacked, smoldered, and sold to restaurants across Panama.

Families here have done this for generations. It's technically illegal now - Panama's mangroves are protected, store millions of tons of carbon, and are part of the country's Paris Agreement commitments.

But this is also how people survive.

There's no clean answer. That's exactly what makes it worth teaching.

We can connect your group with the families living this tension and with Smithsonian researchers studying blue carbon science.

You bring the questions. We open the doors.

Two oceans. Two completely different worlds. One tiny country. 🇵🇦

Panama might be the only place you can study BOTH in a single program.

🌊 PACIFIC SIDE (Chame Bay)
Tides swing 16 feet. Twice a day.
One moment you're paddling through flooded forest, next, you're walking mudflats looking for crabs. Sediment-rich. Bird-crazy. Dramatically tidal.

🌴 CARIBBEAN SIDE (Portobelo)
Calm, clear, coral-adjacent.
Mangroves meet reefs meet rainforest, all inside a UNESCO site with 500 years of pirate history. Yes, pirates. 🏴‍☠️

Perfect for programs in environmental science, marine biology, climate studies, or "I just want my students knee-deep in mud learning something real."

Panama is carbon negative. The Smithsonian does research here. And we can get your group access to both coasts.

If you're building a faculty-led program in Latin America - check out the programing we offer - https://istmoretreat.com/educational-travel/.

We'll help you design an amazing program with access to both mangroves.

Host your coaching retreat in Panama. Here's a 5-day schedule that works. 👇

Day 1: Arrive and settle in
Day 2: Beach. Yoga. Set intentions.
Day 3: Paddleboard on a cloud forest lagoon
Day 4: On-site rest day — evening yoga & coaching
Day 5: Challenging group hike
Day 6: Leave refreshed and motivated

This isn't hypothetical. Lianne Kim has used this exact schedule since 2018—returning every year.

Her business has grown. Her participants keep coming back.

We handle logistics. You lead.
