Who are we ? About us🙏
The Huitotos (also known as Uitotos, Witotos, or by their self-designation, Murui-Muinane, which means “people” or “children of to***co, coca, and sweet cassava”) are an indigenous people native to the Amazon.
Today, they continue to live in the jungle, distributed mainly across Colombia (in the departments of Caquetá, Putumayo, and Amazonas) and Peru (in the department of Loreto), as well as in areas bordering Brazil.
About our Culture and Way of Life
The maloka: This is their traditional, communal dwelling—a sacred space where they gather to talk, make decisions, and pass down knowledge from one generation to the next.
Sacred plants: They use coca (ground into mambe) and to***co (ambil) in rituals to facilitate dialogue, think clearly, and maintain spiritual harmony.
Connection to the Jungle: They are experts in fishing, hunting, and traditional agriculture (the chagra), possessing a deep understanding of nature that teaches them to live in balance with the jungle.
