Most people arrive at Luz y Vida still checking their phone. By the second morning, nobody remembers where they left it.
Here's what actually happens. You land in Iquitos and Don Oscar is waiting for you at the airport — not a driver, not an agency rep. The man who built the lodge with his own hands. From there it's the river: hours of brown water, green walls, and a silence that isn't really silence once you start listening.
Each day we go out looking. Pink dolphins at dawn, sloths in the canopy, caimans after dark with a flashlight on the water. Some days the jungle shows you everything. Some days it makes you wait. That's the point — this isn't a zoo, it's their home, and you're the guest.

La mayoría llega a Luz y Vida mirando el celular. Para la segunda mañana, nadie se acuerda dónde lo dejó.
Esto es lo que pasa en realidad. Aterrizas en Iquitos y Don Oscar te está esperando en el aeropuerto — no un chofer, no alguien de una agencia. El mismo que construyó el lodge con sus manos. De ahí, el río: horas de agua marrón, paredes verdes y un silencio que deja de ser silencio cuando empiezas a escuchar.
Cada día salimos a buscar. Delfines rosados al amanecer, perezosos en las copas, caimanes de noche con una linterna sobre el agua. Hay días en que la selva te muestra todo. Hay días en que te hace esperar. Esa es la gracia — esto no es un zoológico, es su casa, y tú eres el invitado.
