MOST WIDELY ATTENDED FESTIVAL IN LUZON?
Baguio’s Panagbenga Festival, also known as the Baguio Flower Festival, is widely recognized as one of the most attended, anticipated, and celebrated festivals in Luzon.
Held every February in Baguio City, Panagbenga draws an estimated one to two million visitors annually, transforming the Summer Capital into a vibrant sea of colors, flowers, and cultural performances.
Why Panagbenga stands at the top:
Massive Attendance: The festival consistently attracts huge crowds, with hotel occupancy rates in Baguio reaching as high as 96% to 100% during peak weekends.
Iconic Highlights: Panagbenga is best known for its grand street dancing competitions and the spectacular Grand Floral Float Parade, featuring elaborate floats adorned with fresh flowers, an event that draws spectators from across the country and abroad.
International Recognition: It is the only Philippine festival officially listed with the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA), placing it on the global festival map.
A Story of Resilience: Launched in 1995–1996, Panagbenga was born out of recovery efforts following the devastating 1990 Luzon earthquake. It symbolizes Baguio’s resilience, renewal, and collective spirit.
While other well-loved festivals such as Pahiyas in Quezon and Higantes in Rizal continue to attract large audiences, Panagbenga’s month-long celebration, international stature, and consistently high tourist turnout firmly establish it as a premier, if not the most widely attended, festival in Luzon.
