🌤️🌤️🌤️ Heads up lng po sa kasalukuyang BAGUIO WEATHER.
Para sa aming mga taga Baguio, maalinsangan kpg tanghali nitong nkaraang 7 days at may mga nagpapaypay at nka sleeveless pero makulimlim o umaambon sa hapon.

Ganon pa man, ito ang perfect time na madalaw at mkapagrelax sa newly reopened Sunshine Park adjacent to UP College Baguio & near SM. It is 15-25mins jeep fr Chirping Birds. Have fun!

👑💃👑💃 Yesterday, our Barangay Hillside, Baguio City held its annual FLORES DE MAYO SANTACRUZAN, the first brgy in the city to do so this May. Spearheaded by our brgy KALIPI partnering with our Senior Citizens Assocn, they had senior & youth versions of sagalas 💃💃

And Chirping Birds was Assembly point of the seniors & where the rest of the parade wd Salubong. So we offered chairs, mirrors & drinks + small snacks along with our Pop Up shop featuring items made by our brgy seniors.
Wasn’t everyone lovely 😍!

🦜🐦🦉 THE MARVEL OF BIRDS!
There are many activities you can join in Baguio & elsewhere to learn & marvel about local & migratory birds.
Below is the first we are sharing with you. Organized by the Wild Bird Photographers of the Philippines - WBPP & the Quezon City Government, the QUEZON CITY BIRD RACE 2026 is a 3 leg event kicking off at the mighty La Mesa EcoPark. Enjoy the numerous activities - Open to all !

Our name is a nod to the different birds that visit our compound though we are not professional birdwatchers hehe. We appreciated these amazing animals more when, to our happy surprise, we hosted Luis Adrian Hidalgo, a young professional who is a graduate of the first Birdwatching PE course at UP Diliman. He photographed & helped identify our bird visitors & those he encountered at Camp John Hay during his stay. His bird photos with common & scientific names are found as an Album on this FB page.

CHIRPING BIRDS TRAVELS -
Enjoy Some Nature at Chirping Birds or other Phil. Nature Spots!

Continuing sharing some of our adventures, this time at the PAWIKAN CONSERVATION CENTER in Bataan. We arrived there while the Center’s volunteers, former poachers & consumers of turtle meat & eggs, were giving a talk to visitors incl a grp of students with their professor from UP Los Baños. Normally, each guest wd be given 1 baby turtle to release to the sea for a nominal fee that goes to the fund for the Center’s operations but they gave Tito Randy a whole styrofoam box. So off we went into the sunrise to nudge the tiny Pawikans to walk into the sea for the first time.

Did you know that Phil. is 1 of 18 countries containing 2/3 of the world’s biodiversity & is a global center for marine diversity? But we are also among the top with high rates of threatened species 😭. Sometime we will also share our trip to the Phil Eagle Center in Davao.

MORE CHIRPING BIRDS TRAVELS - Tito Randy on the Go!
OUR ENCOUNTERS WITH THE MAGNIFICENT BUTANDINGS/WHALE SHARKS OF CEBU

Like you, we enjoy traveling & our trips have shaped our stance on sustainable tourism & our role as transient hosts.

We had a chance to see the Butandings up close in Cebu. We woke up very early to take a 2 hour land trip & despite arriving at past 6am, there was already not just a long line but a battalion of tourists waiting for their turn. We finally took our turn on the small boat that wd take us near the animals after almost 4 hrs 😥.

We were surprised that we were brought quite close to the shore. We were allowed to swim with them but an unfortunate uncomfortable feeling prevented us. Tito Randy, a very good swimmer, firmly said no way. Far from the more natural habitat we expected, we shared the observations of other visitors, divers & marine biologists that the whole thing had an ‘almost circusy atmosphere & that the natural behavior of whale sharks like migratory patterns were being disrupted.’ They were not meant to eat the human food they were being enticed with. Their closeness to the crowding boats also exposed them to injuries & touching them ‘damages their skin’s protective mucus layer.’

We came away disappointed at such a downgrade of the Butandings’ magnificence. We don’t know if situation has improved today.
It is true that tourism boosts incomes of local people but it shd not be at the expense of the environment & its inhabitants, incl its animals & plants. Tourism shd not be just an open season for photo ops.

Peace to our wonderful friends in Cebu, it remains one of our fave provinces, there is so much (else) to experience. 🪷

CHIRPING BIRDS was here!
RAPANG CLIFF, ITBAYAT, BATANES
The cliff features a limestone rock formation on the uplifted sea bed which the whole island of Itbayat is. An average of 2 hrs trek 1 way through a forest, then flat land bordered by hills on both sides & finally a long climb on sharp
limestone rocks.
