Labor Day—together with the days around it, and of course Holy Week—is usually the peak of the peak for Baler’s summer season. But with how things are economically these days, we were honestly just hoping: wag naman sana ma-zero. That was it.

But you had a different take. That no crisis should stop life from happening. That making memories with the people we love is what helps us get through tough times. That if there’s a will, there’s always a way. Para-paraan lang.

And in that spirit, you showed up—in big numbers—and made your way to Baler. We feel genuinely honoured and lucky to have hosted some of you.

Thank you. Really. Not just for choosing to stay with us this Labor Day, but for reminding us of what actually matters: relationships, simple but meaningful experiences, a hopeful outlook, and taking the time to reset, special during times like these.

Muli, on behalf of the entire OP/Shack family, isang laksang salamat. Kita-kita ulit—hopefully in a more nakakaluwag Labor Day 2027. Claiming it!

Amid the frenzy of Labor Day, we take a moment to recognise and appreciate the love and hard work our team pours into every visit of every guest, whether at the inn or the restaurant.

We are a modest family enterprise, and we’re the first to admit that we’re not the biggest, the fanciest, or the most Instagrammable. But what we do have is a team that genuinely loves their work, our inn and restaurant, and the guests we welcome.

We’ve lasted 12 years in this business largely because of them.

So, thank you—truly and deeply.

Now that Holy Week is officially over, it can be told: we’ve had:

👏🏽 ZERO cancellation
👏🏽 ZERO double-booking or missed booking
👏🏽 ZERO health and safety incident at the inn and at the resto
👏🏽 ZERO facilities breakdown
👏🏽 ZERO panic moment, except for the unscheduled NGCP brownout 😅

👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 And to top it off, ZERO toxic moment from the best guests in the world, who have been nothing but patient and understanding and forgiving of our shortcomings over the crazy long weekend.
