The word "Maundy" comes from the Latin "mandatum," meaning "commandment." Jesus commanded his disciples to love one another. On Maundy Thursday, Jesus demonstrated his servanthood and love, and prophesied his death. That evening, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray.

Maundy Thursday, part of Holy Week and the Thursday before Easter (also known as Holy Thursday), is believed to be the day Jesus shared his final Passover meal with his disciples. During this Passover meal, also called the Last Supper, Jesus washed his disciples' feet and instituted the practice of Communion. ✝️

On this solemn and sacred day, let us reflect on the profound significance of Maundy Thursday in the Christian faith. As we commemorate the Last Supper, let us remember not only the institution of the Holy Eucharist but also Jesus' humble act of service in washing his disciples' feet. 🤍
