'PAI LIN HAD A LONG, HARD LIFE'

Isang elepante ang nagkaroon ng "caved-in spine" matapos itong gawing sakayan ng mga turista sa loob ng 25 taon, ayon sa isang ulat ng The Straits Times.

Ayon kay Amy Jones, spokesman ng Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand, nagkaroon ng caved-in spine ang 71-year-old female elephant na si Pai Lin matapos itong gawing sakayan ng mga turista sa loob ng 25 taon.

“Pai Lin had a long, hard life," saad ni Jones sa isang ulat ng Newsweek. “She was used for elephant trekking, as a street begging prop, and in the logging industry for many years. She was forced to carry a heavy howdah – a type of seat – with up to six tourists in it. Because of this, her spine is visibly deformed, and she has many scars caused by pressure sores.”
