JUNE IS PHILIPPINE ENVIRONMENT MONTH!

In 1988, June was declared the month when we, as one Filipino people, should take up the responsibility of being stewards of our land and sea. It is a time for us to do our part to enhance world ecology, and to take serious steps toward instilling environmental awareness and concern within the greater Philippine public.

So this month, more than any other, spread the word to take care of our Mother Earth. Join conservation activities and be part of the solution, instead of being a burden on our nation's natural beauty. Share messages of environmentalism and be a great example of what a proper steward of the Philippines should be.

Together, we will build a better future by protecting our natural blessings today.

World Parrot Day 🎉
Celebrating the native and endemic parrots of the Philippines, including the Blue-naped Parrot and the Philippine Cockatoo.

These species play an important role in forest ecosystems by helping with seed dispersal, supporting forest regeneration, and maintaining healthy natural habitats. However, they continue to face threats from habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade.

At Negros Forest Park, Blue-naped Parrots are cared for under conservation programs, while released individuals contribute to a growing population at Bayawan Nature Reserve.

Today, we celebrate 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🐢 and recognize the importance of protecting turtles and the habitats they call home.

Featured in this post is the Philippine Box Turtle, photographed at Negros Forest Park and at Bayawan Nature Reserve. They play an important role in freshwater and forest ecosystems as a 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗿, 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿, and 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, helping maintain ecological balance.

However, they continue to face threats from 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀, pollution, and illegal wildlife trade. These moments remind us of the importance of 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to ensure their future in the wild.

Reducing waste, making sustainable choices, respecting wildlife, and supporting local conservation efforts all contribute to a healthier environment.

Human-made threats like pesticides and climate change endanger the lives of bees, meaning our lives are also at threat!
