The "missing piece" is the Asian Games gold.

For years, Carlos Yulo had won almost everything in gymnastics:
• 2x Olympic Gold - Paris 2024 (Floor, Vault)
• 3x World Champion
• Multiple World Cup titles
• SEA Games champion
• Asian Championships champion.

But he had never won an Asian Games gold.

He was only 18 when he placed 7th in his first Asian Games in Jakarta 2018, and he missed Hangzhou 2023 because it conflicted with the World Championships.

Before Nagoya, he said it himself: “I have no Asian Games gold and I want to get one... I was world champion many times, then won World Cup titles, Southeast Asian Games crowns, and two gold medals in the Olympics. But I am missing Asian Games gold.”

That's why this one meant so much. The Asian Games gold was the only major prize missing from his cabinet.

On September 24 at the Nagoya General Gymnasium, he finally found it 14.666 in floor exercise to win the Philippines' first-ever gymnastics gold in Asian Games history.

Why the Rocket Launch Matters for Philippine Defense

Just hours ago, during his 2026 State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that the Philippines will conduct a sounding-rocket launch test in 2027 in partnership with a South Korean aerospace company. Cagayan is also being considered for the country’s first spaceport.

Beyond its scientific value, the initiative could strengthen national defense by developing local expertise in propulsion, avionics, guidance, precision manufacturing, and launch operations. These capabilities can support military satellites, secure communications, surveillance, navigation, maritime awareness, and potentially the country’s future missile-development capacity.
