Pagkatapos ng bagyo, ito ang naging itsura ng ating beach. 🌧️🌊 Maraming naipong mga sanga, kahoy, damo, dahon, at plastic bottles na inanod ng malalakas na alon.

Halos 4 na araw na kaming patuloy na naglilinis upang maibalik ang dating ganda at kalinisan ng ating beach. 🧹🏖️ Hindi ito madaling trabaho, pero ginagawa namin ito nang may malasakit para sa ating mga guests at sa ating kalikasan. 💚

Maraming-maraming salamat sa aming mga staff na tumutulong sa paglilinis kahit hindi naman nila trabaho. 🙏❤️ Sa kabila ng pagod, patuloy silang tumutulong upang maging malinis at maayos ang beach para sa mga bisita. Saludo kami sa inyong sipag at malasakit! 👏

A marine turtle had nested at Anonong in Barangay Concepcion, also in Calintaan. After verifying the sighting, patrollers transferred 113 eggs to a temporary hatchery at Ragara Beach to ensure safer incubation.

MIMAROPA, A HAVEN FOR MARINE TURTLES

The first day of the year began with a small but powerful miracle on the shores of Sitio Boac in Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro.

As the sun rose on New Year’s Day, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) released 88 olive ridley turtle hatchlings into the sea. Their nest had been discovered weeks earlier on a beach long recognized as an important nesting site. To protect the eggs from possible flooding and disturbance, Pawikan Patrollers, Bantay Dagat members, and the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council of Calintaan, under the supervision of DENR Mimaropa, carefully transferred the nest to higher ground.

Forty-five days later, the hatchlings emerged one by one from the sand.

Even before the celebration ended, another report arrived. A marine turtle had nested at Anonong in Barangay Concepcion, also in Calintaan. After verifying the sighting, patrollers transferred 113 eggs to a temporary hatchery at Ragara Beach to ensure safer incubation.

These back-to-back events reveal why Mimaropa—Mindoro Occidental and Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan—is increasingly regarded as a sanctuary for marine turtles.
