Yesterday was a disappointing scene in the Senate. It feels like most of them are protecting their own interests instead of serving the Filipino people. Nakakalungkot na umabot tayo sa ganito; the government is full of drama every day.

Then I saw this photo posted today from our last weekend get-together with my fellow volunteers from Valenzuelanos for Good Governance. Ako na yata ang pinakamatanda rito, because most of them are in their early twenties.

Mas vocal sila, mas may angas, at mas may pagkilos.

For someone regularly flying to Iloilo (at least 4x a year), I used to book flights for only โ‚ฑ3k roundtrip kahit biglaan. Pero by July, nasa โ‚ฑ5k pa rin siya.

Cebu and Puerto Princesa flights are around โ‚ฑ5k, while Bohol is a little more expensive at โ‚ฑ6k. If youโ€™re looking for a cheaper flight, Caticlan is actually cheap this Julyโ€”you can book a roundtrip for around โ‚ฑ4k, same with Daraga, Albay.

On the high-end side, Davao and Siargao are around โ‚ฑ10k, and El Nido is at a whopping โ‚ฑ20k++!

So, if youโ€™re planning to travel during the rainy season in the Philippines, ito ang expected flight costs niyo. This will be the same reality until September.

Prices will slightly go lower by October, which for me is a better month to travel. Ito 'yung transition period where the weather is switching from wet to dryโ€”a little cooler but with less chance of rain.

Ikaw, saan ang local travel plan mo this year?

Malaking factor talaga ang easy access sa public transportation for me, especially since I live in Valenzuela. Mas preferred ko rito tumambay for these reasons:

Napaka-walkable niya for someone na mahilig maglakadโ€”malalaki ang sidewalk at hindi crowded on a Sunday. Unlike MOA na sobrang daming tao palagi, Aseana gives you that space to breathe. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Parqal is a good place to chill. Hindi ito 'yung tipikal na mall for shopping; itโ€™s a space where you can spend quality time over coffee or a meal.

The only reason na pupunta ako ng MOA is to watch a movie on IMAXโ€”thatโ€™s it. So if tulad kitang trentahin na gusto lang ng chill place at saktong tao lang para maglakad, I highly recommend Aseana City. I also feel safe here dahil maraming security sa bawat corner at malawak ang kalsada. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Alam kong darating ang time na 'yun, but for now, letโ€™s enjoy this quiet space in the chaotic Metro Manila!

A credit score is a value that reflects your risk in paying off loans and credit card dues. It is based on your past credit behavior. Based on the TransUnion model, 950 ang highest credit score and I got 849.

An 849 score indicates top-tier creditworthiness. Ang impact nito sa akin? It makes it easier for me to secure loans, credit cards, and lower interest rates from banks. I can't vouch for the lower interest rates yet dahil hindi pa naman ako nangungutang sa bangko for cash, car or house loan, pero I can say sa credit card, they just keep on coming! I probably have offers from almost every leading bank in the Philippines.

I'm fine with using just two credit cards where I can concentrate my usage to maximize the points. And yes, I'm an advocate of: 'Why use cash if you can pay using your card?' Pero use your card ONLY if you actually have the cash to pay the bill when you receive your monthly statement.

I don't earn points using cash, at hindi biro-birong points ito, ha! I can use my points to pay for groceries or even fund my flights. Ang laking savings nyon! I've been a very responsible cardholder to the point na excited ako magbayad ng bill because it feels like a fulfillment na, 'Yes, lahat ng swinipe ko, kaya kong bayaran before the deadline.'

So yes, lagi akong walang dalang malaking cash at hindi ko ginagamit ang debit card ko for transactions. Letโ€™s be responsible credit card users so we can enjoy the perks and have a huge credit score for future use. Malay natin, one day mag-loan ako ng car or bahay sa bank.

Azalea Hotels & Residences: For me, this is one of the best value hotels sa Boracay. Okay na okay ito for families kasi may 2 or 3-bedroom options (of course, hindi na 'yun โ‚ฑ5k lang). It feels like malapit ka sa lahat, plus the rate comes with free breakfast!

โœ… Jony's Beach Resort: Malinis at consistently good ang service. This is better than Jony's Boutique in terms of room quality, plus pagtawid mo, nasa beach ka na agad. Spacious din ang rooms and the rate comes with free breakfast.

โœ… Villa D'Enghien: Not a popular choice and you're probably not familiar with it, pero hidden gem ito! Para siyang malaking lumang bahay converted into a hotel. What I love here is quiet siya sa gabi because of the uphill location. Homey vibes at maluwag ang room. Plus, itโ€™s always affordable and comes with breakfast!

It can be a hit or miss depende kung saang building ka ma-assign because some rooms look a bit old. Pero spacious siya, and if you plan to stay mostly within the hotel area, okay na okay dito. Malayo lang sa 'ganap,' but itโ€™s very affordable and perfect for families with kids.

Check out these key takeaways:

โœ…Mรถvenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre ang winner sa space with 30sqm.

Pero looking at Somerset Central Salcedo Makati, it's actually a great local choice. For โ‚ฑ5,000, you get a 24sqm room, a King-size bed, and solid amenities in the heart of Makati.

Which one do you think is the best value? ๐Ÿค”

Para sa akin, if you want space, Jakarta is the way to go.

Share ko lang: I keep manifesting my dreams because I truly believe in the power of manifestation.

It kept running through my head. I want to be a tour guide but not the type who just gives you historical dates (because you'll just forget them anyway). I want to be someone who can help you navigate the chaos of Manila. Someone who can help you experience riding a jeepney, shopping in Divisoria, or riding the LRT. I want to bring you to my favorite local restaurants and share a glimpse of what real life in the Philippines is like, beyond the glittering high-rises of Makati and BGC.

Whether you just want to meet a local to hang out with, or you want to sit in a cafe while I help you plan your Philippine itinerary, Iโ€™m here. Iโ€™ve been to almost all provinces in the Philippines, so I know I have something valuable to share. We can talk about life, travel, and how to explore Metro Manila since I live here.

Regardless of people saying 'skip Manila,' 'itโ€™s unsafe,' or 'it smells bad,' there is still so much beauty here, especially the food scene. Just last night, I discovered my new favorite budget-friendly Vietnamese restaurant in Malate called Pho Mahal. In fairness, sulit ang pila; masarap ang food at mura!

I have weekly discoveries of where to eat, walk, and chill in the city. I keep thinking about my friends from Thailand, Malaysia, UK, and Canada whom Iโ€™ve toured around before. I think when my finances become more stable, this is something I would love to do in my free time. 'TourManila with Cai' on Facebook? Hehe.

P.S Ang dumi ng paligid ng Cariedo pag gabi tuwing dumadaan ako. Galaw galaw naman, it used to be clean and organize na tapos balik na naman sa dati Yorme Isko Moreno Domagoso

24,000 ang budget ko for electricity annually dahil based 'yan sa historical data ko for years. My average consumption is only โ‚ฑ

Nakakainis dahil wala tayong choice. Hindi tayo natututo as a country. Kaya minsan, sa totoo lang, parang deserved din natin, dahil in general, we still put our loyalty to government officials na dapat ay tayo ang ipinaglalaban.

Kaso, we praise them for doing the bare minimum or madalas wala pa nga. Kalampagin natin 'yung mga congressman natin to take action; they should represent us.

Hindi pwedeng wala tayong say. Hindi pwedeng 'okay lang 'yan.' Harap-harapan tayong ninanakawan.

Meralco Walang liwanag ang buhay! ๐Ÿ˜ก

I usually prefer traveling alone or with my partner para mas controlled ko 'yung galaw ko. But Iโ€™m glad that my recent Boracay trip with friends was 'trentahin goals.'

'Yung tipong: 'Kung saan ka masaya, GO!' I still enjoy my late gising, literally 5 minutes before breakfast ends at 10 AM and no one bothers me to wake up early for activities. I donโ€™t feel forced na kailangang lumabas at mag-beach sa gitna ng tirik ng araw, kasi we all donโ€™t want sunburn. After breakfast, we all just stay sa room to rest again. Giving me more time to really relax, kasi sa totoo lang, 'pag bakasyon, gusto ko lang talaga magpahinga.

We all agree on where to eat, kahit magkano pa 'yan, because we all want to enjoy good food. We agree on when to do activities, dapat 'pag halos pa-sunset na. Some chill late-night drinks and kwentuhan na lang; no to loud party vibes na.

We have our own pace, we all agree on what to do together, and I think this is the ideal 'travel with friends' for me. More time to relax, no drama, good food, chill nights, and deep conversations.

Ganito na din ba kayo mag travel with friends?
