Mangroves are vital coastal ecosystems that protect shorelines from severe storms and erosions, act as essential nurseries for young marine life, and store massive amounts of carbon to fight climate change 🌳

The Verde Island Passage houses critical marine habitats like mangrove forests – an important coastal habitat covering less than 1% of the Earth’s total surface, yet provides numerous ecological and socioeconomic services. 🌊🌱

Mangroves provide shelter and breeding grounds for a wide variety of marine species. Aside from that, mangroves also serve as buffer zones that shield coastal communities against typhoons and erosion.

This International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, let us be reminded of the importance of mangroves and strive for its protection, to ensure healthier marine ecosystems and to strengthen our resilience against climate disasters. 🌎

Salamat sa pag bisita ngani sa Carmen 🥰

In the evening of May 25, just 2 days after world turtle day, we were over the moon to witness a green sea turtle lay her eggs in our shore.🐢

With the guidance of our local MENRO office of the Municipality of Carmen, we were able to secure a safe nesting ground for this turtle - no noise, low lighting and almost zero disturbance.

In 56 days, her turtle hatchlings will emerge from the shore and start their journey into the ocean - a beautiful, natural cycle that we at Mangrove Bay vows to protect and conserve with all our hearts.

We call on everyone to help us create healthy habitats for marine wildlife by:

1 / Avoid disturbance in nesting areas
2 / Keep our beaches and shorelines clean
3 / Report any turtle sightings or nests to the Barangay or local MENRO

Together, let’s help protect these gentle creatures and continue the conservation of our coastal communities for the years to come. 💚🐢
