For many years, the MMSU Hostel has welcomed countless guests through its doors and behind many of those warm welcomes is a familiar face, a caring presence, and a heart devoted to service: Ms. Concepcion Borromeo.
Her journey with Mariano Marcos State University began in 1985 when she joined the Auxiliary Services as a Food Service Worker. She later took on the roles of House Parent I then the Officer-in-Charge of the Hostel. Through the years, she witnessed the university grow and change, welcomed guests from near and far, and formed friendships with colleagues who eventually became her second family.
What kept her going through the years was more than simply fulfilling a job. It was her patience, the sacrifices she willingly made, and, most of all, her genuine love for what she does.
For Ms. Borromeo, hospitality has always been about more than providing a room or attending to a guestโs needs. It is about making people feel welcome, cared for, and at home. She believes that extraordinary care and genuine hospitality create meaningful connections and the appreciation, kindness, and warmth she received from the people she served inspired her to continue giving her best.
Her 41 years at the MMSU Hostel have brought her countless stories and memories. She had the opportunity to meet people from different countries and cultures, as well as personalities from the media industry and various walks of life. Each guest brought a new story, a new perspective, and another opportunity to learn. These encounters enriched not only her experience but also the way she carried out her work.
But perhaps the most meaningful part of her journey has been the people she shared it with.
Ms. Borromeo remains deeply grateful to her bosses and coworkers in Auxiliary Services, many of whom have become more than colleagues. They became family. Their support, friendship, and shared experiences made the long years of service lighter and more meaningful.
Above all, she gives thanks to the Heavenly Father for the strength, guidance, and grace that carried her through every season of her 41-year journey.
Now, as retirement draws near, Ms. Borromeo admits that saying goodbye will not be easy. After spending more than four decades, MMSU has become much more than a workplace. It has become her second home, and the people she served and worked alongside have become her second family.
The rooms may be filled with new guests in the years ahead, but the memories she created will remain. Every warm welcome, every thoughtful gesture, every conversation, and every act of care has become part of the story of the MMSU Hostel part of the lives of the people she encountered along the way.
For the next generation entering the workforce, she leaves a simple yet meaningful piece of advice:

After 41 years, Ms. Concepcion Borromeo leaves behind more than a record of dedicated service. She leaves a legacy of warmth, kindness, patience, and genuine hospitality.
