Fun Facts:
The Y.C. James Yen Center is home to 600 poles of dragon fruit planted in 2022 in support to IIRR's overall community based rural development programs in addressing food security, health, and nutrition. Based on research, among of the benefits of eating dragon fruit are:
1. Reduces Risk of Diabetes-fruit contains high amounts of fiber that helps maintain blood sugar levels and avoid spikes among people suffering from diabetes.
2. Reduces Risks of Cancer-fruit contains antioxidants and bioactive compounds that can reduce the risks of certain types of cancers.
3. Helps Boost Immunity-fruit contains high levels of vitamin C that boosts immunity and helps you stay healthy.
4. Good for Digestion-is a rich source of oligosaccharides (a carbohydrate), which aids in smooth digestion.
5. Good for the Heart-Dragon fruit with red colored pulp contains betalains that may reduce bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol). The fruit is also rich in omega-3 and omega-9 fatty acids that are also good for the heart.
6. Fights Ageing Skin-Dragon fruit being a rich source of antioxidants may help manage dry skin, and acne.
7. Good for Hair-The high source of nutrients found in this fruit extract powder reduces may help reduce hair damage caused by chemicals and improves hair texture, thus, leaving it soft and shiny.
8. Healthy Bones-This superfruit is high in magnesium that aids in stronger bones and good bone health.
9. Good for Eyes- Contains beta-carotene (the pigment that gives the fruit its color) that is very good for the eyes and helps avoid eye problems such as cataracts and macular degeneration.

To date, our harvest are also offered to our dine-in guests garden-to-table style, where they can enjoy the nutritious and sustainably farmed fruits. Pick and pay activity or simply buying for pasalubong is a must! Guests are more empowered to buy at a lower cost through a reduced supply chain by buying direct from the source.
